Betting On Kansas City Royals Online

Winning one World Series and making another finals, the 2014 and 2015 seasons have been nothing short of spectacular for the Kansas City Royals. The 2015 championship title was the second in franchise history, the other one coming 30 years earlier in 1985. The World Series appearances also signaled the team’s return to its winning ways after a massive slump in the 1990s and 2000s. It is the hope of the team and its fans that the Kansas City can maintain its royalty in the MLB. [+]

Founded in 1969, the Royals, also known as the Blue Crew, currently compete in the AL Central Division. The team’s name is derived from the American Royal, a local livestock and horse show that has been running in the city since 1899. Along with many other teams, KC emerged during the MLB’s expansion phase during the 1960s and 70s. The team is currently under the ownership of David Glass, a former president and CEO of the Wal-Mart franchise.

The Royals quickly established themselves as a powerhouse team in the American League, capturing three consecutive division titles from 1976 to 1978 and then three more in 1980, 1984, and 1985, the last one ending in a World Series title. Throughout this time, MLB legends Frank White and George Brett were making their careers with the team. While Brett did gain notoriety for the pine tar incident in 1984, his prowess on the field and at the batting plate was instrumental to the team’s successes.

After a fairly dominant dynasty in its first two decades, the Royals entered into a decline with the passing of owner Ewing Kauffman in 1993, upon which David Glass took over. Since 1995, Kansas City consistently placed at the bottom of the AL Central Division until turning its luck around with a Wild Card berth in 2014. While the Royals did continue struggling until 2014, the team did see notable individual performances from Zack Greinke in 2009 and Billy Butler in 2012, who respectively received the Cy Young and Silver Slugger Awards.

Kansas City Royals Online Betting Tips

Despite nearly two decades of lacklustre performances throughout the 1990s and 2000s, the KC Royals showed a positive turnaround in 2013 with an 86-76 record, which set the tone for the two World Series appearances during the following years.

The 2014 and 2015 seasons saw brilliant player performances in all areas of the game. On the mound, Wade Davis demonstrated his dominant pitching ability in the 2015 postseason and became the recipient of the Babe Ruth Award. Left fielder Alex Gordon has won four consecutive Gold Glove Awards from 2011 to 2014. Mike Moustakas has also been strong force at the plate. The Royals have been a well-rounded team in recent years.

Having come out with a 51-30 home record and a 44-37 away record in 2015, the Royals should be equally well off both at home and on the road, especially having shown a better road performance than home performance the year before.

Mike Moustakas: Bringing Spartan Power onto the Field

Mike Moustakas is of Greek descent and showed Spartan-like performances during the 2015 season. With a batting average above .300 before the All-Star break, Moustakas earned a spot into the All-Star game alongside teammates Salvador Perez, Alcides Escobar, Lorenzo Cain, Kelvin Herrera, Alex Gordon, and Wade Davis.

In a game against Baltimore later in the season, Moustakas set a new franchise record with nine RBIs, surpassing the previous record of seven, which was held by Billy Butler and George Brett. The nine RBIs happened on grand slam and three-run homers along with a two-run single.
