Who’s Got The Power?: Online Sports Betting’s Weekly MLB Power Rankings (July 16 Edition)

Who’s Got The Power?: Online Sports Betting’s Weekly MLB Power Rankings (July 16 Edition)
We've officially reached the halfway point of Major League Baseball's regular season, which means fortunes are bright for some clubs and non-existent for others. Each and every Thursday we look at Major League Baseball's most fearsome squads in our weekly MLB Power Rankings.

The All-Star Break has come and gone which means we’ve reached the point where Major League Baseball sorts out the contenders from the pretenders. Now the playoff races can truly begin with enough moments of pride and panic to drive anyone bonkers. As always, we’ve rounded up our picks for the five best teams in baseball as of this week. If your team’s in the Top 5, you might want to consider taking some time off in October. If it’s not, shake the 8 Ball again and check back with us in a week.

5. Los Angeles Dodgers

Odds To Win The World Series: 12/1

The Dodgers have been a steady fixture at the NL West summit this season. Two players Los Angeles can thank for that are super rookie Joc Pederson and Cy Young candidate Zack Greinke. They aren’t doing it all themselves, but holy moly are they contributing a lot.

4. Los Angeles Angels

Odds To Win The World Series: 12/1

The Halos have ascended up the AL West standings to overtake Houston for top spot. The Angels have been clicking of late and are enjoying a tremendous comeback year from Albert Puljos plus an MVP caliber campaign from Mike Trout.

3. Kansas City Royals

Odds To Win The World Series: 6/1

KC scorched the way into the All-Star Break going a remarkable 8-2 in their last 10 contests. Not only did the Royals look stellar in that stretch, but they also kept the surging Twins from gaining serious ground. The question in the second half of season is whether or not they can survive without Alex Gordon for eight weeks with a groin injury. The left fielder’s excellent defense and quality bat will be missed by the Royals.

2. St. Louis Cardinals

Odds To Win The World Series: 15/2

The Cards have finally been knocked off their #1 perch in our weekly MLB Power Rankings. The demotion comes courtesy of Pittsburgh topping St. Louis in their pre-ASG series. The Cardinals are still dynamite, mind you. They can neutralize offenses while regularly finding their own way onto the basepaths. Leading the most top-heavy division in baseball (St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Chicago) is no minor feat either.

1. Pittsburgh Pirates

Odds To Win The World Series: 14/1

Believe in the Buccos. Pittsburgh have looked great in 2015 and closed out the first half of the season with three straight victories over their NL Central rivals from St. Louis. The Pirates have been able to boast tremendous pitching this season, complete with the most quality starts (59) from a team this year. Factor in megatalents like Starling Marte and Andrew McCutchen and you have a club that strikes fear into the hearts of their opponents.
