Belmont Stakes: Thoughts and Predictions From Belmont Park

I’ll Have Another: Triple Crown Dream Gets Crushed

As morning dawns on “Big Sandy” we are still in shock after I’ll Have Another was scratched from the third leg of the Triple Crown Racing Series. After a pair of amazing come from behind wins in the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes, I’ll Have Another will be retired as an undefeated three 3-year old and the horse racing world will go on searching for the next Triple Crown Champion. As sad as it is – we still have a race to run!

Kentucky Derby Runners New Favorites In The Belmont

With I’ll Have Another scratched from the Test of the Champion, Kentucky Derby runners Dullahan (3rd) and Union Rags (7th) become the new Belmont favorites. This monster 1.5-mile race sets up well for Dullahan who was gaining ground at the wire in the Run for the Roses. Union Rags had a horrible trip in the Derby as he was rough out of the gate, got squeezed early on, and then was boxed on the rail at the top of the stretch.

Apart from those two horses, we are keeping an eye on Paynter, Street Life and Atigun, who do not race in the other two legs of the Triple Crown Racing Series. We like the blazing stretch run that Street Life showed in the Peter Pan at Belmont Park back in early May, as he charged from last to third and was still gaining ground at the wire. Bob Baffert trained Paynter is getting a lot of respect with a 7-2 morning line.

If you’ve been following us at Online Sports Betting you know that we are two for two with our Triple Crown Exacta predictions. We are looking to make it a Triple Crown sweep with the following Belmont Stakes call.
