New England: Looking for 8th Super Bowl Appearance

As a model of success, since being purchased by owner Robert Kraft 1994, New England can tie Dallas and Pittsburgh for the most Super Bowl appearances in NFL history with a win over the Ravens on Sunday. The Patriots are 7-1 in AFC Championship games and they are 5-0 in contests played in New England (4-0 at Gillette Stadium). After securing a first round playoff bye, a dominant 41-28 performance against the Houston Texas last weekend has the Patriots one win away from trip to New Orleans and a shot at Super Bowl XLVII.

Baltimore: Ravens riding high after lassoing the Colts and Broncos

Following a convincing 24-9 home win over the Indianapolis Colts during Wild Card Week action, the Ravens took their show on the road to Denver and defeated the Broncos 38-35 less than two minutes into the second overtime period. Despite giving up two Denver kick returns for touchdowns, the Ravens knuckled down and came up with a gritty win on the road. This will be the third AFC Championship appearance in five years for Baltimore who lost to New England last year and Pittsburgh (23-14) during the 2008 NFL season.
