Betting On Metropolitan Division Online

The Metropolitan Division has suffered through its fair share of jokes over the years. Well nobody is laughing any longer. The powerhouse clubs such as the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals have maintained competitive teams. However, other NHL teams in the Metropolitan have slowly progressed into legitimate playoff and Stanley Cup contenders. A perfect example of that are the Columbus Blue Jackets, who shocked the hockey world with their incredible performance during the 2016-17 season. [+]

From top to bottom, the Metropolitan Division features talented lineups.

In 2014 the New York Rangers, coached by offensive tactician Alain Vigneault, reached the Stanley Cup Final before eventually losing to the Los Angeles Kings in the championship.

The only weak clubs in the division are the Carolina Panthers and New Jersey Devils — both who are stocked with prospects and will be competitive in no time.

Betting on Metropolitan Division clubs can be a rewarding venture. Don’t be nervous to put your money on the Blue Jackets, who had an incredible record on the road during the 2017 season.

As far as most Stanley Cups, The Rangers, Penguins and New York Islanders are tied with four championships apiece.

What Are The Current Metropolitan Division Standings

The Metropolitan Division standings are located here and they bear quite a different look than any of the NHL’s other three divisions. With so many of the teams bunched in close geographic proximity, road trips aren’t nearly as demanding as for the other divisions. [+]

And this is something to keep in mind when it comes time to wager on NHL Metropolitan Division games. Whether it’s the New York Rangers or the New York Islanders, or the Philadelphia Flyers, or even the New Jersey Devils, each of these teams is just a hop, skip and a jump from each other. This reduction in travel time certainly limits the wear and tear on Metropolitan Division teams and can provide them an edge on the competition.

Metropolitan Division Online Betting Tips

Betting on the Pittsburgh Penguins is like an addiction. Once you start, you can’t stop. Sure, on many nights the Penguins are favorites and the odds won’t pay very well. However, if you’re confidently putting more money down on Sidney Crosby and the Penguins, the end reward can be quite beneficial.

There are many instances, however, that the Penguins will be underdogs. For instance, if the defending Stanley Cup champions are on the road in Washington to face the Eastern Conference-leading Capitals, chances are the Pens will have enticing odds attached to them.

How can you bet against a team that led the NHL in scoring during the 2016-17 campaign with an astounding 3.42 goals for per game. Getting pucks on net is key and the Penguins are strong in that department as they were among the league leaders with 34 shots per game.

The Capitals are a team that have dominated the Eastern Conference over the last five seasons but just haven’t been able to get over the hump to win a Stanley Cup.

Washington is not only one of the best offensive teams in the NHL, but the club addressed its pressing need on the back end on defense. The Caps allowed the fewest goals against in the league during the 2016-17 season. Much of that can be attributed to the play of all-star goaltender Braden Holtby. The 2016 Vezina Trophy winner led the league in goals-against average and shutouts.

The rivalries in the Metropolitan Division may not be as rich in heritage as in the Atlantic Division for example, but don’t go thinking that the battles here are any less intense. When the New York Rangers clash with the New York Islanders, bragging rights for the city are on the line.

As New York’s little brother, the New Jersey Devils always play with a chip on their shoulders. Nobody outside of Philadelphia likes the Flyers, so games involving them always involve a Philadelphia versus the world theme. And there may be no more competitive rivalry in the NHL today than the Pennsylvania showdown between the Flyers and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
