Betting On Carolina Hurricanes Online

In a star-studded Metropolitan Division, the Carolina Hurricanes often get lost in the mix. Much of that has been due to the fact that the franchise has struggled mightily since winning the Stanley Cup in 2006. However the Canes returned to respectability during the 2016-17 season, as the club challenged for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference but fell just short. One of the youngest teams in the NHL, the Hurricanes are packed with promising prospects that will carry the franchise for many years to come. [+]

In the forefront is Jeff Skinner — a 2010 first-round pick who led the Hurricanes in scoring in 2017.

Carolina Hurricanes Online Betting Tips

Eric Staal was the face of the Hurricanes’ franchise for 10 years before being dealt to the New York Rangers at the trade deadline in 2016. That paved the way for young stars such as Jeff Skinner and Finnish standout Sebastian Aho to take over as offensive leaders.

Both players wasted little time as Skinner led the club in scoring with his third 30-plus goal season, while Aho was mentioned in the Calder Trophy race, netting 20-plus goals in his rookie campaign.

While the Hurricanes have made huge strides, there’s room for improvement defensively.  The club wasn’t terrible in their own end, but gave up nearly 2.80 goals per game — a high number if the team looks to compete with Metropolitan Division giants such as the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals.

One reassuring piece for the future is defenseman Noah Hanifin — a smooth skating blue-liner that is extremely responsible in his own zone and can create offense at the same time.

Justin Faulk is another exciting piece of the Hurricanes’ puzzle on the back end. The offensive-minded Faulk led all Carolina blue-liners in scoring in 2017.

So when can we expect the Carolina Hurricanes to be contenders in the Metropolitan Division?

If the 2016-17 season was any indication, it could be sooner rather than later. The Hurricanes have several key prospects waiting in the wings for playing time, which will speed up their rebuilding process.

If the club can add more depth on defense to take some of the pressure of Hanifan, watch for the Hurricanes to make a surge up the Eastern Conference standings within the next few years.
