Austria are competing in only their second championships at Euro 2016, their only other appearance in the coming in 2008 when they failed to progress from the group stage, but after a superb qualifying campaign, the Austrians head to France full of confidence. Unbeaten in Group G of qualifying, with nine wins and a draw, Austria qualified with ease some eight points clear of Russia. They scored 22 goals and only conceded five from 10 games, showing they are a solid unit, even if their group was not one of the toughest in the competition. [+]

This remains true as they head to the finals, as Austria find themselves in Group F where they face Hungary, Portugal, and Iceland, and should finish at least second to reach what would be their first-ever knockout stages.

Most of the Austrian squads plays their club soccer in Germany, although fans of the English Premier League will be familiar with Leicester City’s Christian Fuchs, Watford’s Sebastian Prodl, Tottenham’s Kevin Wimmer, and Stoke’s Marko Arnaitovic, the latter being a powerful midfielder who will cause the opposition no end of problems.

Up front, Austria rely quite heavily on the Basel frontman Marc Janco. The 32-year-old has 26 goals in 52 appearances for his county and is a top qualify striker.

Odds of Austrian glory at Euro 2016 are very long, so most of the value in betting on them comes from their group games, but more on that a little later.
