Rich in history and tradition, the England soccer team was, along with Scotland, was the first to form. The first edition of the team formed in 1870 and played its first competitive match on March 5, 1870 against those very same Scots. A lot has happened since for this storied soccer nation. Unfortunately, the nation hasn’t lived up to expectations, their long history not correlating to major championship trophies. Their one and only claim to fame occurred on home soil in 1966, where the Three Lions won the World Cup by beating West Germany 4-2.

High expectation follows this team around like a lost puppy. Supporters are forever let down, though, as the team manages to disappoint on a regular basis. England’s third-place finish in Euro 1968 was their best result in that competition. It’s hard to believe a nation like England is still waiting for its first European Championship over 140 years after the team played its first competitive game.

It’s not like England hasn’t had the personnel to win big tournaments. David Beckham, Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, Jimmy Greaves, Wayne Rooney, Bobby Moore, Steven Gerrard, Bryan Robson, Paul Gascoigne, Michael Owen, Glen Hoddle, Tom Finney and Kevin Keegan are but a few of England’s greats to have donned the national team shirt.

Whether down to lack of cohesiveness, chemistry or bad luck, the national team is still searching for the glory days of 1966. Could the upcoming European Championships in Europe be the spectacle England has been waiting for?

They definitely have the talent to win Euro 2020 but most people believe they don’t have the composure, experience or cutting edge required to string together a run of results in what some argue is the world’s most difficult competition to win.

England Game Schedule

Pay attention to England’s game schedule so you can see potential future bets well in advance. Many international fixtures offer poor returns due to the inferiority of some opponents.

Those games, however, could offer great parlay or combination bets. It’s important to know when England is playing a must-win game or if their next match is one they can afford to lose.

What Are The Current England Standings

Find out where England sits in the current standings. England bettors and fans should expect this team at the top of the standings in most competitions.

The knockout games, however, will cause grave concern for bettors. England has historically performed poorly in must-win games and this trend needs to end soon if England is to claim their first European crown.

England Online Betting Tips

England has been pegged as favorites at +500 by Bovada to win Euro 2020. Alongside France (+500), and just ahead of Germany (+750) and Spain (+800), England is the favorite to win it all. However, most soccer puritans do not believe England has a chance of winning the tournament.

But we do! Pressure, except the English media, is somewhat off the Three Lions. They have steamrolled into the championships, winning the vast majority of their qualification games. Keep in mind that the opposition in qualification games lack the quality of those they’ll face in the Euro Cup.

The squad is confident, though. Harry Kane is on top form and leads the English Premier League in scoring. He’s good for a prop bet in Euro 2020 as long as the pressure doesn’t get to him. The team is firing on all cylinders.

Expect England to make the semifinals in the Euro Cup and, with a little bit of lady luck, the Three Lions could even advance to the finals and win their first international tournament since the legendary 1966 World Cup Trophy.

The squad is motivated, energetic and has a perfect balance of experience and youth. They must play attacking soccer to have any chance of winning Euro 2020 but we reckon a futures bet is worthwhile.

And it’s finally time that England puts all naysayers in their place. It may be Gareth Southgate’s last opportunity to produce something for England, we shall see how he copes under the pressure.

Harry Kane is pegged at +600 to win top goalscorer during Euro Cup and this might be a good bet to take as he is on top form. Hopefully, he can continue this dazzling form on the world’s biggest stage.
