Mayweather vs. McGregor: Best Round By Round Bets

This summer’s mega-fight between combat sport superstars Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor could potentially finish one of two ways. Mayweather could out-point and rely on his strong defensive tactics to take it in a 12-round decision.

Or maybe McGregor does the unthinkable and hands Mayweather — arguably the greatest boxer of all time — his first career loss in knockout fashion.

The war of words and ongoing trash talking on social media will finally be settled on Aug. 26 when Mayweather and McGregor clash at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Bettors have eagerly been hitting online sportsbooks to put in their early wagers. Bovada.lv, in particular, is offering a series of enticing round-by-round betting options on Mayweather and McGregor.

Round Betting

Here are a few round bets to consider for next month’s super bout:

Mayweather by decision (+200)

Much like he did against Manny Pacquiao in 2015, expect Mayweather to bob and weave his way to a decision victory. Mayweather, a five-division world champion who owns an unblemished 49-0 record, has not recorded a knockout victory in his last seven fights prior to retiring in 2015. Mayweather’s last KO win came in 2011 against Victor Ortiz.

These odds are too good to pass on, which is why bettors have been flocking to online sportsbooks to take advantage of the early line.

Mayweather in Round 2 (+1600)

The first round will be a feeling-out process between Mayweather and McGregor. While the UFC lightweight champ will be looking to end it with a single punch in the opening round, Mayweather has what it takes to catch McGregor off-guard by the second. Mayweather may not have a KO victory since 2011, but he still has 26 in total.

Mayweather in Round 12 (+1600)

Mayweather is all about conserving energy, so the man known as Money should have enough left in the tank to go all out in the 12th round, looking for a potential knockout against the less-experienced McGregor. At +1600, it’s worth taking a chance on, especially considering everyone would expect Mayweather to play it safe and rely on a unanimous decision victory.

McGregor in Round 1 (+1600)

The feisty Irishman will come out aggressively, looking to end the bout in the early stages of the match. That could very well happen as early as the opening round, as McGregor enters the fight with a clear advantage in height and reach.

Mayweather will be extra cautious against the unpredictable McGregor, so the likelihood of a first-round KO from the mixed martial arts star is unlikely. However, many bettors have jumped on the odds as they’re looking to hit the jackpot with a stunning upset.

McGregor in Round 2 (+1600)

If he can’t get the job done in the opening round, McGregor will hope to finish off Mayweather in the second. McGregor knows the longer this fight lasts, the chances of defeating Mayweather drastically decrease. Expect the UFC lightweight champ to attack his opponent once again looking for a finishing punch.

McGregor in Round 10 (+4000)

Think about it — Mayweather is coasting to victory and starts to get a little too comfortable by the 10th round. Let’s not forget Mayweather is 40 years old and hasn’t fought since 2015, so he’ll likely be gasping for air by this point too.

McGregor may have enough in the tank to make one final push before he’s faced with the match going to decision, which he’ll likely come out on the losing end of.
