We have another trilogy fight on Saturday, December 3rd that frankly no one expected or asked for. Tyson Fury has his WBC heavyweight belt on the line after retiring briefly from the sport. A third victory over Derek Chisora in North London would all but confirm a meeting with big Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk sometime next year. The Gypsy King hasn't fought since April when he knocked out another Brit in Dillian Whyte at Wembley, retaining his titles. Tyson Fury vs Derek Chisora Preview
Fury seemed pretty convinced he was done with boxing after his trilogy win over Deontay Wilder last October. But, that itch to keep fighting quickly came back as he returned to what he does best in April when he put Whyte on the canvas within six rounds. The Gypsy King then said again he would retire, but continued to jaw with the likes of Usyk, Joshua, and now, Chisora. The last time Fury actually fought Chisora was all the way back in 2014 therefore a lot has changed. But, it's important to note the massive size difference here. The Manchester-born Fury is 7.5 inches taller than Chisora and has an 11-inch advantage in reach. That should undoubtedly come into play. Fury will go down as arguably one of the best boxers ever, no matter what weight class. His undefeated record of 32-0 is nothing short of spectacular, knocking out 23 of his opponents in the process. Fury is an absolute mammoth of a man at 6 foot 9 and although he doesn't look the fittest, he's in tremendous shape. We saw just that in the Wilder bout a year ago when he was the one outlasting the very muscular Bronze Bomber.
Chisora has fought better competition and it's shown in his recent record. He's just 1-3 in his last four fights and will be an underdog for his fifth bout in a row. Nevertheless, he's an intriguing matchup for Fury. Yes, there's a huge size difference, but Chisora is an aggressive, relentless boxer who will try to wear Fury down with a lot of body jabs/punches because actually knocking out a guy who is so much larger is practically impossible, especially given The Gypsy King's pedigree and resume. Chisora is a bit older than Fury at 39 years old and owns a career record of 33-12. He was born in Zimbabwe but moved to the UK at 16 years of age and is basically a Brit at this point. Before beating Pulev, it was three consecutive defeats to Joseph Parker on two occasions and Usyk. All were by decision, though. He's only been knocked out three times before and the other two bouts against Fury ended by decision as well.
Final Tyson Fury vs Derek Chisora Picks
To be honest, I just don't see any way Chisora wins this. He's a decent boxer with lots of skill, but Fury is simply too dominant. The outright moneyline offers minimal value, which is why I'm looking at a TKO for the Gypsy King. While he hasn't knocked out Chisora before, you can't put it past him given the size difference. Fury typically eases himself into fights though, which is why I think it'll happen past the seventh round. So we're going over 6.5 and a TKO.
