4 Aces the team to beat in LIV Golf Team Competition Miami

This week sees the final event on the LIV Golf circuit for 2022 with the Team Championship taking place in Miami. Dustin Johnson’s 4 Aces team is the betting favorites, and here we look at their prospects in our free golf betting picks.

The team event sees 12 teams competing over three days, with a total of 48 golfers making up the four teams. It will also bring down the curtain on the current LIV Golf season, and it’s fair to say, the new start up tour has had an effect on the world of golf as we know it.

Controversial season about to come to an end

Yes, LIV Golf has certainly shaken up the established golf tours on both sides of the Atlantic. And as its opening season comes to an end, there are still a lot of things up in the air when it comes to legal wranglings about the rights of LIV players and where they stand on world ranking points, Ryder Cup selection, etc.

All that aside, and whether you like what the organization fronted by Greg Norman has done or not, it’s hard to argue with the fact that the roster of players assembled by LIV is impressive.

It’s not just a roster of has-beens. Admitted, there are some guys on there well past their sell by dates. But LIV has still managed to attract Cameron Smith, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Patrick Reed and Dustin Johnson, to go along with big names of yesteryear, like Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood.

The individual season finished in Jeddah on October 16th. That event was won by Brooks Koepka. Koepka finished on -12, the same score as his Smash GC teammate, Peter Uihlein. Koepka needed three play-off holes to eventually see off Uihlein for his first win on any tour in over one year.

Dustin Johnson finishes LIV Golf top player in 2022

Koepka came some way down the final LIV standings for 2022 though. In the end he finished in eighth place on 62 points, way behind winner Dustin Johnson on 135 points. Johnson finished 56 points clear of second place Branden Grace, who ended the tour’s maiden season on 79 points.

Johnson has been outstanding since he joined LIV Golf. He may have only won one of the seven events he has played, but he finished in the top four on four occasions. And only once has Johnson finished outside of the top eight. His 16th place in Bangkok was his worst performance, and even that won him three points (only the top 25 players score points at LIV).

LIV Golf Miami Betting Picks

The stats point to Dustin Johnson’s 4 Aces. The combination of Johnson, Patrick Reed,Talor Gooch, and Pat Perez have won four of the season’s seven team events so far. They currently have 152 points. That’s well ahead of the second placed Crushers on 96 points, and the Fireballs who sit third on 93 points.

Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed have also both won three times professionally at this venue showing they know the course well. So adding all that up makes the 4 Aces an obvious first betting pick to win the LIV Golf Team Championship Miami.

Outside Pick

In their last three events the Smash team captained by Brooks Koepka has finished first in Jeddah, eighth in Bangkok, and second in Chicago. With Peter Uihlein pushing Brooks Koepka all the way in Jeddah a couple of weekends back, it could be that Smash (Brooks Koepka, Jason Kokrak, Peter Uihlein, and Chase Koepka) are running into some form.

At odds of +900 with BetOnline, I’m making Smash my second betting pick to win the LIV Golf Team Championship at Miami this weekend.
