Breeders' Cup 2016 Juvenile Predictions

Breeders' Cup Juvenile 2016 Preview

Theory

The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile has drawn a field of eleven colts and geldings and with such an inexperienced field, there is some value to be had. Theory may be unproven around two-turns but his pedigree indicates that he is meant to improve with additional distance. He is from the first crop of freshman sire Gemologist, a son of Tiznow, who has been sharp out of the gate as a stallion. He is undefeated and untested from two starts and will have to pass the next test.

Gormley is the leading contender of the West Coast contingent and stamped his ticket with an impressive victory in the Front Runner Stakes giving him home track advantage. Physically, he is a big, rangy colt and seems like he still has a lot of maturing to do and will only get better with time, experience and distance.

Classic Empire has shown himself to be an erratic, difficult and green colt but when he puts it all together, he has the talent to be as good as any of them. Blinkers made a big difference last time out but the large crowds at Santa Anita may be his undoing.

Syndergaard may have lost the battle last time out but he showed a great deal of class and maturity to not back down in that slugfest of a race. He is battle tested and that counts for something.

The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile is on Saturday, November 5 from Santa Anita. Post time is 5:43 p.m. EST.

Selections:

1)      #4 Theory

2)      #7 Gormley

3)      #5 Classic Empire

4)      #2 Syndergaard

Breeders' Cup 2016 Juvenile Turf Predictions

Good Samaritan

Though the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf has a history of being dominated by international runners, the North American contenders loom dangerously this year. Good Samaritan is undefeated from two starts and has been visually impressive in both victories to date. His worktab has been encouraging since his last win and the biggest question mark whether he can manage Santa Anita’s tight, fast turf course, a much much different prospect than Woodbine.

Favorable Outcome is a longshot – he has never raced on turf and is not a stakes winner. However, he comes out for one of the strongest turf barns in the world and is bred up and down to improve on the lawn, making him intriguing at a big price.

Oscar Performance has one gear and that is to go fast early. He should love the fast turf at Santa Anita and may simply be too fast out of the gate for his contemporaries to keep up early.

Intelligence Cross has been competing against the best international juveniles, and with the addition of lasix for the first time, he should be formidable for the powerhouse Aiden O’Brien/Ryan Moore combination.

The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf is on Friday, November 4 from Santa Anita. Post time is 5:25 p.m. EST.

Selections:

1)      #11 Good Samaritan

2)      #4 Favorable Outcome

3)      #13 Oscar Performance

4)      #8 Intelligence Cross

Breeders' Cup 2016 Juvenile Fillies Turf Predictions

A full field of fourteen fillies with two also-eligibles is set for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. The race has shaped up as one of the most wide-open on the card. Aiden O’Brien has always been a dominant force in the turf races at the Breeders’ Cup but has not yet added this race to his trophy shelf. He does, however, have a live contender in Roly Poly. She has been holding her own against the best in Europe and has the foundation and class to be a leading contender.

Victory to Victory could be an interesting longshot. She has a lot of similarities to Catch a Glimpse, the winner of this race last year as she is trained by Mark Casse and used a win in the Natalma Stakes as a prep race for the Breeders’ Cup.

Intricately (IRE) will pit son Joseph O’Brien against his father Aiden O’Brien. This filly has already displayed her ability as a world class talent with a game win against Group 1 competition last time out. The additional distance may be a question mark but she has the pedigree to go longer.

Trainer Chad Brown has won this race twice already and will saddle New Money Honey as a horse with a legitimate chance. She caught a key race in her debut and wheeled back to break her maiden against graded stakes competition. She seems to be on the fast track and is improving with each race.

The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf is on Friday, November 4 from Santa Anita. Post time is 6:50 p.m. EST.

Selections:

1)      #13 Roly Poly

2)      #5 Victory to Victory

3)      #7 Intricately (IRE)

4)      #3 New Money Honey

Breeders' Cup 2016 Juvenile Fillies Predictions

The Juvenile Fillies has attracted a field of twelve two-year-old fillies, which will likely decide the Eclipse Award.

Noted and Quoted is the logical favorite as she is already a Grade 1 winner, the victory coming at Santa Anita in the Chandelier Stakes. She was game in victory in that race but has not been the most consistent filly from four starts. That could make her vulnerable.

Her stablemate American Gal may offer more value despite the disadvantageous outside post position. She is undefeated from two starts and was easily the best last time out. She has yet to race beyond six furlongs but has had two very sharp bullet workouts recently and gets the services of Hall of Fame rider Mike Smith.

Dancing Rags passed the class test in a big way with an upset victory in the Alcibiades Stakes and stamped her ticket to the Breeders’ Cup. While she will need to prove that was not a fluke performance, she has some upside making her second start going long. It's also her second start with Lasix for trainer Graham Motion.

Mark Casse is having a career high year. Everything he touches turns to graded stakes winning gold. Valadorna is making a big step up in class after breaking her maiden last time out but looked like the real deal.

The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies is on Saturday, November 5 from Santa Anita. Post time is 3:05 p.m. EST.

Selections:

1)      #10 Noted and Quoted

2)      #12 American Gal

3)      #8 Dancing Rags

4)      #3 Valadorna
