Sports Betting’s Weekly MLB Power Rankings (August 27 Edition)

Sports Betting’s Weekly MLB Power Rankings (August 27 Edition)
It's late August which means playoff races are in full effect and it's time to either have faith, panic or get ridiculously cocky about your team's lot in life. Each and every Thursday we try to sort out which teams reign as the five most fearsome clubs in baseball in our weekly MLB Power Rankings.

5. Toronto Blue Jays

Odds To Win The World Series: 4/1

The Blue Jays have recovered from losing two out of three to the Yankees earlier in the month to get hot yet again. Once again, the offense scores a lot of the headlines (see: Donaldson, Tulowitzki, Bautista), but the arms in play for Toronto have improved significantly in the second half of 2015. Depending on how you view Baltimore's wild card chances, the Jays are currently embarking on a steady stretch that won't see a playoff hopeful on the horizon until mid-September's Yankees set.

4. Pittsburgh Pirates

Odds To Win The World Series: 11/1

The Bucs scored some encouraging news this week with word that veteran hurler A.J. Burnett's elbow is feeling good. Pittsburgh has one the lowest ERAs in the league and Burnett bouncing back in time for October would be a big plus. The Pirates have Milwaukee and Colorado coming up this week which should give them the opportunity to load up on wins before their set against St. Louis.

3. Houston Astros

Odds To Win The World Series: 18/1

The Astros, who already have more wins now than they did all of last season, appear to be too good to topple in the AL West. Smacking around the Dodgers and Yankees this week is a good sign that Houston are not too be messed with and universes better than the 2014 squad. The one thing that may be cause for concern is their supremely awful batting average. There is no team in the Majors with a worse batting average than the paltry .241 sported by the Lone Star State club. (Mind you, the Mets and Cubs are hovering around that mark so maybe we're being unfair.)

2. St. Louis Cardinals

Odds To Win The World Series: 13/1

As we say every week, the Cardinals are simply the best team the National League right now. Their rotation is impeccable and their young stars are contributing at the plate and in the field. The one downer for St. Louis fans this week was seeing their team take a pair of thumpings at the hands of playoff race non-factor San Diego.

1. Kansas City Royals

Odds To Win The World Series: 5/1

At this stage, Kansas City may want to just break out hammocks for the bulk of September. The Royals own a deep double digit AL Central standings lead and they continue to rack up wins with regularity. Eric Hosmer hasn't been getting as much shine as Donaldson or Trout, but the first baseman has been putting up some impressive totals. Keep that in mind KC head into this year's postseason.
