Who’s Got The Power?: Online Sports Betting’s Weekly MLB Power Rankings (August 13 Edition)

Who’s Got The Power?: Online Sports Betting’s Weekly MLB Power Rankings (August 13 Edition)
We're halfway through August and the pace is starting to pickup in this year's playoff chase. Each and every Thursday we try to sort out which teams reign as the five most fearsome clubs in baseball in our weekly MLB Power Rankings.

We're midway through August and Major League Baseball's assortment of playoff races are in full swing. What an awesome time to be a fan of America’s pastime. As we do every single Thursday, we’ve rounded up our picks for the five best teams in baseball as of this week. If your team’s in the Top 5, you might want to consider taking some time off work in October. If it’s not, shake the 8 Ball again and check back with us in a week. (Unless you’re a Phillies fan because we all know how that movie’s going to end.)

5. Toronto Blue Jays

Odds To Win The World Series: 9/2

Surprise! The talent boosted Jays have been every bit as incredible as promised if not more. Troy Tulowitzki, David Price and ageless wonder LaTroy Hawkins have all dazzled and that AL East deficit has melted away at a ridiculously quick rate of speed. Much has been made of Toronto's incredible offense, but the Jays have also managed to considerably shrink their ERA in the second half of the season. Watch out.

4. Los Angeles Dodgers

Odds To Win The World Series: 8/1

The Dodgers had a rough week getting swept by the Pirates, but they're still a formidable force in the NL West. Los Angeles boasts the best on base percentage in the Majors and the terrifying duo of Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke. If only they could get Yasiel Puig back on track at bat.

3. Pittsburgh Pirates

Odds To Win The World Series: 14/1

As previously mentioned, the Bucs won every game in their set versus the Dodgers. A sweep was not in the Cards when they headed to St. Louis to face, um, the Cards. That NL Central series has been an intriguing one to watch (the final showdown's tonight) and not just for the action at Busch Stadium. The Chicago Cubs have been red hot in August and could burst past Pittsburgh for the #2 spot in the division.

2. St. Louis Cardinals

Odds To Win The World Series: 8/1

The Cardinals continue to have the best record in baseball. St. Louis has been keeping opponents in the 2.60 ERA range on a nightly basis with a sub .240 batting average to match. Three straight shutout victories on Thursday, Friday and Saturday served as a reminder that the Cardinals look like a scary dance card partner come fall.

1. Kansas City Royals

Odds To Win The World Series: 5/1

How many games up are the Royals in the AL Central? 58? Kansas City looks terrifying in 2015 and Johnny Cueto's four-hit home debut amps up the wow factor even more. By the way, star outfielder Alex Gordon is making progress with his groin injury and should be back before the playoffs.
