Who’s Got The Power?: Online Sports Betting’s Weekly MLB Power Rankings (August 6 Edition)
August has arrived and the playoffs are kinda sorta visible on the horizon. The contenders are separating themselves from the pretenders and we're here to gawk at the five best teams in baseball as of this week. Here's a look at our Weekly MLB Power Rankings.

Can you feel it? We're in the thick of August baseball and playoff races are heating up. It's an awesome time to be a fan of America's pastime. As we do every single Thursday, we’ve rounded up our picks for the five best teams in baseball as of this week. If your team’s in the Top 5, you might want to consider taking some time off work in October. If it’s not, shake the 8 Ball again and check back with us in a week. (Unless you’re a Phillies fan because we all know how that movie’s going to end.)

5. New York Mets

Odds To Win The World Series: 20/1

We're still trying to wrap our heads around the whole Carlos Gomez no-go, but at least they picked up Tigers outfielder Yoenis Cespedes to give their batting order a jolt. The real weapon in the Mets arsenal is that remarkable rotation. Who on earth would want to go up against any multi-game combo of Colon, deGrom, Syndergaard, Harvey and Niese? That's a terrifying proposition.

4. New York Yankees

Odds To Win The World Series: 14/1

The baseball world is waiting for the bottom to drop out on the Yankees, but they're still tops in the AL East. New York doesn't appear too worried about the reloaded Jays and pesky Orioles gunning for the division lead. The Yankees have been eating teams alive at the plate (Mark Teixeira deserves a lot of kudos there) and the pitching's been better than advertised. It's sexy to say Toronto will edge past the Bronx Bombers, but remember that New York still has a say in the matter.

3. Pittsburgh Pirates

Odds To Win The World Series: 10/1

The Bucs received some troubling news this week with starter A.J. Burnett diagnosed with a strained flexor tendon in his right elbow. The 37-year-old hurler's been an incredibly valuable part of the Pirates rotation and now he'll be put on rest for at four weeks and then transition into a throwing program. Will Pittsburgh snag a replacement off waivers? We'll have to wait and see.

2. Kansas City Royals

Odds To Win The World Series: 6/1

How awesome would it be if we got a Royals/Jays playoff showdown? The atmosphere and intensity during this week's series in Toronto was incredible, although KC would've probably liked more than a 3-1 series defeat as a memento from their visit to Canada. Still, the Royals continue to be the best team in the American League and they have the prospect of star outfielder Alex Gordon returning to the lineup before the month's through. The Twins have been shrinking in Kansas City's AL Central rearview, so the Royals will (probably) be able to spend the rest of the season tuning up rather than scrambling for a postseason berth.

1. St. Louis Cardinals

Odds To Win The World Series: 8/1

Comfortably above .600, the Cards remain the dominant force in the National League and look just fine even with minor roster tweaks from the trade deadline. St. Louis are stingy with the scoreboard, armed with an impressive ERA and an uncanny ability to stifle any batting order in the Majors. We're ridiculously excited to see the Cardinals going to toe-to-toe with the Pirates this week in a three game set at Busch Stadium.
