Game 4 will be even easier for Golden State

Another sweep on the horizon

Over/under 216 points: Golden State Warriors (-11.5) at San Antonio Spurs

Golden State may be one the luckiest teams ever, from a health standpoint at least. If you trace back their three years of dominance, their good fortunes — especially in the postseason — is hard to miss.

Two years ago, the Warriors hoisted an NBA championship at the expense of Cleveland, who was without Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving. But even before that, the Dubs beat the Grizzlies and Rockets earlier that playoff run, who both were missing Mike Conley and Patrick Beverly, respectively.

This year, they cruised past a Portland team minus Jusuf Nurkic. But they're really reaping the good luck now against a depleted San Antonio team missing Kawhi Leonard, Tony Parker, and David Lee. Head coach Gregg Popovich said Leonard is likely out for Game 4 and at this point, there's no reason to risk his long-term health when it's a foregone conclusion that this series ends Monday.

Give San Antonio some credit, though, they're at least showing some fight, unlike Boston. With a laundry-list of injuries in Game 3, the Spurs hung around throughout before losing 120-108. Old man Manu Ginobili, who may be playing his final game on Monday, played like a man possessed. Ginobili scored a team-high 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting and even nutmegged David West at one point.

However, that same fire was missing in the Spurs de-facto go-to player LaMarcus Aldridge. He finished with a modest 18 points off 7-of-17 shooting. But that's not enough for a player that knew he had to step up big. It was apparent Golden State zoned in on him, making him work for each shot.

The Warriors were hot all night long, knocking down 55 percent of their shots and 11-of-27 three-pointers. Kevin Durant led the way, scoring 19 of his game-high 33 points during the third frame. Still, it was a team effort as all five starters scored in double digits. Furthermore, ten different players hit a basket, which speaks volumes about this team's depth.

We don't expect Game 4 to be nearly as close. San Antonio was playoff off pure emotion in Game 3, before Golden State's firepower and depth overwhelmed them. No team has ever erased a 3-0 series deficit and with their mountain of injuries, the Spurs competitive spirit is effectively broken.

Plus, there might be some gamesmanship coming from the Warriors. Neither them or their soon-to-be NBA Finals opponent Cleveland have lost a game this postseason. The Cavs are beating down the Celtics in historic fashion, and the Dubs might try to one-up them. It's going to get real ugly come Game 4.

Pick: Warriors (-11.5)

Total: Under
