Which NBA Teams To Back On Friday

By Eric Uribe

Friday is a busy day with eight NBA games. Here's a preview of the odds, courtesy of BetOnline.

Houston Rockets (-4.5) at Chicago Bulls

For just the third time this season, Houston (44-21) have lost back-to-back games. To be fair, the losses have been to premier Western Conference teams — Utah and San Antonio. They travel for a more manageable matchup against Chicago (31-33), who have lost three in a row.

Before making any wagers, check the injury report. Dwyane Wade has missed the past two games with a thigh injury. His status remains in question for Friday. Without Wade in the lineup, the Bulls offense has sputtered. They've shot 41 and 44 percent the past two games, failing to score 100 points both times.

Here's why the Rockets is the obvious choice here: they lead the NBA in covering the spread while on the road, where they are 22-11 on the season. The last time Houston failed to cover on the road was all the way back on January 29.

Pick: Rockets (-4.5)

Over/Under 216.5 points: Golden State Warriors at Minnesota Timberwolves

The big storyline here is Kevin Durant. A week ago, the Warriors prized free agent pick-up suffered a bone bruise and MCL sprain. The injury will sideline Durant for at least four weeks. It's devastating blow as Durant had season averages of 25.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game.

Without Durant, Golden State (52-12) have sputtered. They've lost two of four, but a bigger trend is emerging: the three-ball-loving Warriors can't seem to hit overs anymore. Maybe the expectations are too high or they're just in the midst of a slump, but Golden State have gone under in six of their past seven matchups.

Minnesota's offense is pedestrian in their own right. The Timberwolves rank 17th in scoring (104.9) and 21st in three-point shooting percentage (.349).

This will be the two team's third meeting of the season. The previous two went under by 6.5 and two points, respectively. Without Durant, history will likely repeat itself again come Friday.

Pick: Under

Washington Wizards (-8) at Sacramento Kings

It's too soon to say, but early indications for the Kings since dealing away DeMarcus Cousins aren't good. Sacramento won their first game in the post-Cousins era, but have lost six in a row since. Offense has been a big problem for the Kings during the losing skid, as they are averaging just 97 points.

Furthermore, Sacramento's new arena — Golden 1 Center — has been a house of horrors all year long. Only three teams have fewer home wins than the Kings.

The Wizards are the clear pick here.

Yes, they are smack dab in the middle of a five-game road trip, but the they're red hot. In their last two road games, Washington have lit up the scoreboard with 131 and 123-point outings, respectively. The team is just one game behind Boston for the Eastern Conference's second seed, so they have a lot at stake. Washington's backcourt duo of John Wall and Bradley Beal will feast, as they'll cover on the road.

Pick: Washington (-8)
