Who Will Win Tonight's NBA Games?

NBA Game Predictions And Odds Analysis

Brooklyn Nets (+6) vs. Charlotte Hornets (-6)

This has "trap game" written all over it for the Hornets, who went toe to toe with the San Antonio Spurs and won on Monday night. An effort like that will take a lot out of you, especially when you have to turn around and travel to a different location.

But the Nets are not good, and the Hornets, quite frankly, are really good. They are one of the most balanced teams in the league, and few squads have been better than them in recent weeks. If we were betting on a blowout spread here, there would be an issue. But we're not. This could end up being a victory the Hornets need to gut out, but covering a six-point spread against one of the NBA's worst teams shouldn't be a problem, even on the tail end of a back to back.

The Pick: Hornets (-6)

Oklahoma City Thunder (-9.5) vs. Houston Rockets (+9.5)

Are the Thunder at home? Yes. Are the Rockets, to date, the most inconsistent team in basketball? Absolutely. Will Houston lose this tilt? Probably. But a 9.5 point spread is huge here if you're thinking about betting on the Thunder.

On paper, they look like they should be destroying most teams. But they have an innate tendency to keep things close. And that's against drastically inferior opponents, such as the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Rockets are not down that low. They're worse than Oklahoma City, but they have the talent to put together statement victories. That doesn't mean they'll win this one; they probably won't. It does mean, however, that they shouldn't have any problems keeping things close.

The Pick: Rockets (+9.5)

New Orleans Pelicans (+8.5) vs. Miami Heat (-8.5)

Picking a road team to cover a nearly double digit spread always presents some risk. But the Heat have been on a tear since the All-Star break, and they've upped the ante since acquiring Joe Johnson. The defense has slipped, but it's still good; the offense and their pace of play is just straight up ridiculously good.

The Pelicans, meanwhile, just lost Anthony Davis for the season. Tyreke Evans and Eric Gordon remain banged up as well. Head coach Alvin Gentry has been left to piece together a rotation of odds and ends, and while the Pelicans' guard play has, at times, been impressive, banking on Tim Frazier, Jrue Holiday and Toney Douglas to take down, or even compete with, a Heat squad that is now toeing the line of title contention is a fool's gamble.

The Pick: Heat -8.5

Los Angeles Lakers (+3) vs. Memphis Grizzlies (-3)

Consider this your resident Tough Pick of the Night. The Grizzlies are playing the second night of a back to back and just barely beat the Phoenix Suns in their first game on Monday night. They are missing Marc Gasol and Mike Conley, and the offense is running through Jordan Farmar, Ray McCallum, Lance Stephenson and Zach Randolph.

That's not an ideal pecking order, not even against the lowly Lakers. D'Angelo Russell and Julius Randle have been playing better basketball recently, and the edge that comes with appearing at home will prove huge against a shorthanded Memphis faction.

Still, the Grizzlies are gritty. The Lakers offense isn't nearly as spacey, and thus dangerous, as Phoenix's attack. The Grizzlies will have an easier time dictating the pace and squeaking out another victory—a win that should come by more than three points.

The Pick: Grizzlies (-3)
