5 College Football Games Worth Watching In Week 12

5 College Football Games Worth Watching In Week 12
College football is in full swing and that means tons of big ticket FBS contests jockeying for your attention. We've cherrypicked five games that are definitely worth tuning in for this week, including a massive Buckeyes/Spartans Big 10 clash in Ohio.

Disclaimer: The rankings listed are the AP Top 25 rankings and not the updated College Football Football rankings that will be released on Tuesday night.

The Big Game

#9 Michigan State (9-1) at #3 Ohio State (10-0) - Saturday, November 21 (Ohio Stadium, Columbus, OH)

Is this 2015's most important Big 10 matchup or will it be Buckeyes/Wolverines the week after? Well, that all depends on what Michigan State brings to the table. This Saturday matinée clash has serious consequences for the national title picture, especially if you believe the loss suffered by the Spartans earlier this year was a questionable one. The Buckeyes will look to flex the defensive muscle that's been holding opposing offenses to a paltry 13.8 points-per-game. Michigan State is hoping that QB Connor Cook's shoulder injury isn't going to give that Ohio State a wounded pivot to feast on. The defending champion Buckeyes are listed as a robust 13 point favourite to win this weekend.

Four More To Watch

#10 Baylor (8-1) at #4 Oklahoma State (10-0) - Saturday, November 21 (Boone Pickens Stadium, Stillwater, OK)

OU's 44-34 victory over previously undefeated Baylor has placed a very sharp needle into the Bears' playoff balloon. As TCU can tell you, it's not easy to get respect as a Big 12 school and a loss is the last thing you can afford. Oklahoma State is now the conference's marquee attraction and wins over Baylor and Oklahoma seem like the most likely path to playoff glory. Baylor brings their 55 points-per-game megapowered (but freshman QB handled) offense at Stillwater to face an OSU squad looking for a showcase W that captures the attention of the College Football Playoff committee. OSU is a slight one point favourite.

#11 TCU (9-1) at #7 Oklahoma (9-1) - Saturday, November 21 (Memorial Stadium, Norman, OK)

Oklahoma's stock continues to rise. Knocking off an undefeated Baylor team will do that to a school and now the wounded TCU Golden Frogs will take on the Sooners. TCU is sending out all sorts of hopeful vibes in the direction of star QB Trevone Boykin and WR Josh Doctson as they remain questionable due to injury and that's a tough spot to be in with OU's strong defensive play. A win would be enormous for both teams with a second loss likely doing irreparable damage to either school's playoff ambitions.

#20 Northwestern (8-2) at #21 Wisconsin (8-2) - Saturday, November 21 (Camp Randall Stadium, Madison, WI)

It's easy to be overlooked in the Big 10 with Ohio State, Iowa, Michigan and Michigan State sitting at the top of the conference, but Northwestern and Wisconsin have also been making some noise. Improving to 9-2 over a previously 8-2 school is a major value booster and this one looks likely to be a low scoring affair with the #1 ranked defense in the country (Wisconsin) clashing with the nation's #12 defense (Northwestern). Oddsmakers seem confident the Badgers will excel at home and have pegged Wisconsin as an eleven point favourite.

#12 North Carolina (9-1) at Virginia Tech (5-5) - Saturday, November 21 (Lane Stadium, Blacksburg, VA)

Are the Tar Heels quietly crawling into playoff contention? After a disappointing 17-13 loss to South Carolina to start the season, UNC has won nine straight and most recently lit up 59-21 with rusher Elijah Hood picking up a TD and 134 yards on 17 carries. There's a serious chance we'll get a North Carolina/Clemson ACC Championship Game that will have a monster impact on the title picture. (Who would have guessed?) Before we get there, the Tar Heels will have to defeat a servicable Virgina Tech side. North Carolina is considered a six-and-a-half point road favourite for that clash.
