5 College Football Games Worth Watching In Week 6

5 College Football Games Worth Watching In Week 6
College football is in full swing and that means tons of big ticket FBS contests jockeying for your attention. We've cherrypicked five games that are definitely worth tuning in for this week, including a Saturday night tilt in Salt Lake City.

The Big Game

#23 California (5-0) at #5 Utah (4-0) - Saturday, October 10 (Rice-Eccles Stadium, Salt Lake City, UT)

Fear Utah. A bye week following their 62-20 obliteration of Oregon has only increased the unlikely mystique of the Utes and they'll play the role of a seven point home favourite versus undefeated California. The collection of opponents the Golden Bears have snagged wins from hasn't been too sexy (howdy Washington State), but a win over Utah has some serious cache. California's forced a whopping 18 turnovers this season, so Utah (who are currently 2-2 against the spread) better not giftwrap anything for their guests. Utes running back Devontae Booker has racked up 443 yards in four games, which will pose a real challenge to Cal's run defense.

Four More To Watch

#13 Northwestern (5-0) at #18 Michigan (4-1) - Saturday, October 10 (Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, MI)

Surprise! Michigan's season opening loss to Utah wasn't the toetag moment pundits thought it might have been. The Wolverines have been looking better as the season rolls on and they have undefeated Northwestern next on their plate. Both schools have a lot riding on the outcome of this clash and Michigan will need all the offensive firepower possible to make a dent against the Wildcats D. Northwestern (a ten point underdog) has blanked two teams already this year and they'd love to make life hell of Michigan QB Jake Rudock. By the way, Michigan's no slouch on defense this year either. They've also racked up two shutouts (including a 31-0 defeat of BYU) and have held opposing teams to 7.6 points-per-game. It'll be a wild one at The Big House.

Miami (3-1) at #12 Florida State (4-0) - Saturday, October 10 (Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahassee, FL)

Are the Seminoles capable of escaping their date with the Hurricanes with a 5-0 record? Florida State are favoured by nine in this ACC tilt versus Miami and there's a bit of worry that FSU RB Dalvin Cook's hamstring issues could play a factor. FSU hasn't been winning pretty in their four victories, but their defense has been slamming the door shut for the most part. Will The U provide a tough test? We think so. A tough loss to Cincinnati has to sting for Hurricanes fans, but pivot Brad Kaaya has the tools to frustrate Florida State.

#2 TCU (5-0) at Kansas State (3-1) - Saturday, October 10 (Bill Snyder Family Stadium, Manhattan, KS)

TCU's quest for a spot in the College Football Playoff is still very much in progress and time will tell whether or not the losses suffered by big name schools will significantly impact the Horned Frogs' shot. A 6-0 start can be Gary Patterson's if TCU thumps a not bad Kansas State squad. The Wildcats are coming off a 36-34 heartbreaker to Oklahoma State and they'll aim to squash TCU's big stage hopes. The Horned Frogs will be a nightmare to defend against. TCU's racked up 600 yard showings in each of their last four games and Trevone Boykin continues to dazzle at quarterback. Oddsmakers have TCU as the favourite by a touchdown.

#7 LSU (4-0) at South Carolina (2-3) - Saturday, October 10 (Williams-Brice Stadium, Columbia, SC)

Are South Carolina worth tuning in for? Nor really. We're just carving out this space to remind you that LSU running back Leonard Fournette has been playing out of his mind this year (864 yards in just four outings) and you need to soak it all in. LSU are favoured by 13 to walk away from South Carolina with a 5-0 record.
