5 College Football Games Worth Watching In Week 9

5 College Football Games Worth Watching In Week 9
College football is in full swing and that means tons of big ticket FBS contests jockeying for your attention. We've cherrypicked five games that are definitely worth tuning in for this week, including the Fighting Irish heading into Philly to face Temple.

The Big Game

#9 Notre Dame (6-1) at #21 Temple (7-0) - Saturday, October 31 (Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PA)

Maybe Notre Dame's national title hopes aren't dashed after all. The Fighting Irish's 24-22 loss to Clemson a few weeks back might not be compltely fatal to those aspirations seeing as ND's still playing great and Clemson's retained 2015 powerhouse status. Notre Dame will push for 7-1 on Saturday, but they'll have to knock off undefeated Temple to do it. This is the first ranked matchup in Temple college football mystery and their strong defense (less fifteen points allowed per game) will look to clamp down on the injury riddled Irish. Senior running back C.J. Prosise goes up against an Owls run D that's held opponents to 91.9 yards on the ground a game. Notre Dame is currently favoured by ten in this road matchup.

Four More To Watch

#3 Clemson (7-0) at North Carolina State (5-2) - Saturday, October 31 (Carter-Finley Stadium, Raleigh, NC)

Clemson's (sort of) unlikely title run rolls into North Carolina on Saturday to face what a 5-2 NC State squad has in store. Clemson, a 10.5 point home favourite with oddsmakers, are riding high after completely decimating Miami 58-0 on the weekend in a blowout that ended in Al Golden getting the ax. Even if the Tigers weren't challenging for a playoff berth, their remarkable defense and superstar QB (the incredible Deshaun Watson) are definitely worth your time. NC State's no pushover, mind you. The Wolfpack, who have been 5-2 this year against the spread, have shown savvy on defense and looked solid against Georgia Tech.

#11 Florida (6-1) vs. Georgia (5-2) - Saturday, October 31 (EverBank Field, Jacksonville, FL)

It's just another one of those years where Georgia looked like they had the tools to contend, but have tumbled out of the championship picture. The Bulldogs will try to score some consolation by knocking off SEC East rivals Florida. If the Gators win, they've pretty much locked up the division and improve their credentials in a year where having a loss seems to be par for the course. Both schools are coming off a bye week ahead of the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. Florida are favoured by a field goal.

West Virginia (3-3) at #5 TCU (7-0) - Thursday, October 29 (Amon G. Carter Stadium, Fort Worth, TX)

It's easy to salivate and look ahead at to next month's highly anticipated TCU/Baylor Big 12 showdown, but the Horned Frogs still have to keep racking up wins en route to that hyped up date on the calendar. West Virginia are far from an elite program, but their 3-3 record is a bit misleading if you look at who the Mountaineers lost to. TCU won't get ungunned by West Virginia in a battle of offenses, but they've got a potentially dangerous opponent in front of them even if the Horned Frogs are favoured by fourteen.

#8 Stanford (6-1) at Washington State (5-2) - Saturday, October 31 (Martin Stadium, Pullman, WA)

Topsy turvy seems to be the norm in the Pac-12 which might explain how Stanford clawed their way into the highest ranked spot in the conference. Favoured by thirteen, the Cardinal have bounced back from an opening week loss to Northwestern to wallop whatever competition have hovered into their path. Washington State are next on the menu for Stanford and they boast a QB that's already racked up 2885 yards and 26 TDs on the year. This bout has the makings of a wild one.
