The Nebraska-Oklahoma rivalry is a classic one. While the Cornhuskers were the more dominant team in the 90s, the Sooners have almost always come out on top in the 2000s. They're 7-2 in nine matchups since the turn of the century.

Although Oklahoma lost head coach Lincoln Riley and quarterback Caleb Williams as they both left for USC, the transition for the Sooners under HC Brent Venables has been pretty smooth so far. Hell, this squad is even at a long +4000 in the 2022-23 NCAA Football National Championship futures. In Week 1, they absolutely destroyed UTEP and then followed that victory up with a 33-3 smashing of Kent State. QB Dillon Gabriel looked tremendous, completing 21 of 28 passes for 296 yards and three touchdowns. Eric Gray and Marcus Major both had their way on the ground with averages of over seven yards per carry, while Marvin Mims picked apart Kent State's secondary, grabbing seven catches for 163 yards and two touchdowns. The Sooners actually had a rough first half offensively but completely erupted in the final two quarters. OU hasn't really faced any top-tier opponent yet and considering how poor Nebraska has looked, there's a chance they won't be tested yet either. The Huskers' secondary is by no means strong, either. Oklahoma has also won 28 of their last 32 road contests and has yet to commit a single turnover this season. That puts them in a good position in the Oklahoma vs Nebraska odds.
The Huskers were just abysmal through their first two games, resulting in Scott Frost losing his job. It was slightly disappointing that he got canned so quickly into 2022 after several impressive performances last year against very good programs. Nebraska gave Ohio State, Michigan, and Oklahoma all a run for their money at various points. Despite the firing of Frost, there are still some intriguing pieces on this roster from 2021 that are capable of producing. Signal-caller Casey Thompson is a dual-threat QB, while the running back room can also hold their own. While the Cornhuskers did lose 45-42 to Georgia Southern of all teams last Saturday, Thompson had an efficient. He threw for over 300 yards while completing 23 of 34 passes. Anthony Grant and Ajay Allen both combined for 214 yards rushing, too. This defeat simply came down to Nebraska's inability to get defensive stops. The offense looked just fine. They will put points up on the board. It just comes down to this team containing Oklahoma's electric attack. That is a very tall task, to say the least.

The Oklahoma vs Nebraska odds are clearly favoring the Sooners, which makes total sense. They're the superior team and have won seven of the last eight meetings. Last season, they beat the Cornhuskers 23-20. Unfortunately for the hosts, I do think the outcome will be much different this time around. As mentioned, Nebraska has the offense to get something going. However, the Sooners also have one of the best defenses in the nation early on, barely allowing any points. Plus, OU's stacked frontline should rip apart Nebraska's poor defense that has shown no stability. With that being said, I'm liking the visitors to cover the spread here and improve to 3-0 on the season.
