Ohio State vs Georgia Odds

BetOnlineSpreadMoneylineTotal
Ohio State+6.5 (-101)+215Ov 62.5 (-110)
Georgia-6.5 (-119)-255Un 62.5 (-110)

The Bulldogs are favored by 6.5 points here with moneyline odds of -255. The Buckeyes come back at +215. The total is set at a relatively high 62.5. That's not too surprising however considering the offensive weapons on both sides. Georgia went just 7-6 ATS this season, while OSU was 5-6-1 and only 1-4 in their last five ATS.

Despite being college football powerhouses, they've only met once, with the Bulldogs winning 21-14 way back in 1993.

Can Stroud Lead Buckeyes to Title Game?

Before the campaign even began, Ohio State was considered a serious contender because of its phenomenal offense and stout defense. By no surprise, they lived up to expectations. Ryan Day's group ranked second in points with 44.5 per game, 12th in total yards, and 25th in passing yards. Stroud, who just missed out on winning the Heisman, is the leading catalyst and enjoyed a fantastic 2022. He's a surefire first-round pick next April, too. The QB led the Buckeyes to an 11-1 record, completing 66.2% of his passes for a whopping 3,340 yards, 37 touchdowns, and just six interceptions. While he's not the greatest runner like a lot of college quarterbacks, Stroud makes up for it with his impressive vision downfield and cannon of an arm.

There are also so many weapons around him. Marvin Harrison Jr reeled in a team-high 72 receptions for 1,157 yards and 12 scores. Emeka Egbuka also had 66 catches for over 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns. Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who was expected to be Ohio State's best WR, played just five games due to injury, yet the Buckeyes still flourished. You also can't forget the running back duo of TreVeyon Henderson and Miyan Williams, who are lightning on the ground. But, Henderson is out for this game after suffering a rather serious foot injury. When it comes to the defensive end, OSU allowed a mere 19.1 points and gave up only 320 total yards per contest. They will have their work cut out for them against an experienced Georgia team.

Georgia Coming in With Confidence

What more could you ask for than a 13-0 season? The Bulldogs were utterly dominant in 22' and capped it off with a big 50-30 win over LSU in the SEC Championship. That was just the epitome of what this Bulldogs group is all about. Stetson Bennett threw for four TDs and completed nearly every pass. Star tight end Brock Bowers hauled in six catches for 81 yards and a score as well, while the running back trio of Kendal Milton, Daijun Edwards, and Kenny McIntosh destroyed the LSU defense with 255 rushing yards. Georgia sits 13th in total yards in the country and can equally hurt you in the air and on the ground. They're also scoring 39.2 points per outing, which ranks 11th.

The offense is great, yes, but the Bulldogs defense is what stands out the most. It's arguably the best around, ranking first with a measly 76.9 yards rushing yards allowed per game. Teams aren't even scoring two touchdowns against them either (12.8 PPG). Stroud and his numerous weapons will definitely give Georgia a run for its money, though.

Ohio State vs Georgia Prediction

If I'm being brutally honest, Georgia should have no problem covering. Although Ohio State is a very good team, they're the only program in the Playoff that didn't play in a conference title game and were manhandled by Michigan in Week 13. The Bulldogs are better and will prove it on New Year's Eve.
