Betting On Buffalo Bills Online

Buffalo Bill was a legendary figure in the American Old West – a Medal of Honor recipient in the US Army and a skilled hunter and bison processor. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the NFL team that uses his namesake. The Bills have not made a playoff appearance since 1999 when the [+]

New England Patriots began their rise to dominance. A charter member of the American Football League (AFL), the Bills came into existence in 1960 and won the franchise’s only championships in 1964 and 1965.

From 1969 to 1977, running back O.J. Simpson became a key offensive force for Buffalo, recording 2000+ rushing yards in the 1973 season.

The Bills won four consecutive conference championships in the early 90s but devastatingly lost all four Super Bowl games. Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly made his debut in 1986 and played 10 seasons for the Bills. The Bills haven’t really got it right since his absence.

Kelly still holds the record for most passing yards in a Bills uniform, racking up 35,467 during an illustrious career. Kelly’s 237 touchdown passes with the Bills also stands as a franchise best mark. Thurman Thomas, who played on those Super Bowl-bound teams, is the franchise’s all-time leading rusher with 11,938 yards. It’s a mark that may never be surpassed — at least not any time soon.

Buffalo Bills Online Betting Tips

It’s no secret what the strategy has been over the last two seasons in Buffalo — hand the ball off to LeSean McCoy.

The all-star running back played all but one game in 2016 and finished sixth in rushing yards with 1,267. When McCoy carried the ball, he was sure to make good things happen — ranking first among starting running backs in yards per carry, averaging 5.4.

However, lacking a passing game, the Bills relied far too much on their top weapon. The Bills ranked 30th overall in passing yards, generating 3,036 in 2016 with only the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers having worse ratings.

It’s hard to pin all of the blame on starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor — a mobile quarterback with an above-average arm. Taylor finished 25th overall in passing yards with a QB rating of just over 89. Expect the Bills’ passing game to drastically improve in 2017 with the addition of top draft pick Zay Jones and the surprising play from Andre Holmes. If No. 1 receiver Sammy Watkins can stay healthy, the Bills will be in the running to contend for a playoff spot — especially with new head coach Sean McDermott leading the charge.

The Bills will get a few keys pieces back on defense, including defensive end Shaq Lawson, who missed the entire 2016 season with a shoulder injury.

Lawson’s presence in the Bills’ lineup will certainly propel the club’s rushing defence, which finished 30th in the league in 2016. Linebacker Reggie Ragland — another Bills prospect with high expectations — missed the 2016 season with a torn ACL. Ragland will be a huge piece to McDermott’s defensive puzzle moving forward.

The Bills will most certainly have one of, if not the best-ranked defenses in the AFC. The question is can the offense put up enough points each game to help the club finally break its longstanding playoff draught. Only time will tell.
