2020 NFL Betting Breakdown
Division Winner Predictions
|Odds to win the AFC East|
|New England Patriots||+130||+130||+120|
|New York Jets||+850||+900||+850|
With Tom Brady in Tampa Bay and New England's quarterback situation unsettled, this is the first year in a long time the Patriots look vulnerable. The smart money is on the Bills, following their playoff berth. And yet, we still have a feeling the Pats end up with a good QB 1 (Cam Newton, perhaps?).
OSB Prediction: Patriots (+130)
|Odds to win the AFC North|
Now is not the time to pick against the reigning MVP Lamar Jackson. No one quite knows what Ben Roethlisberger will look like in Pittsburgh after his latest injury, and the Browns, for all their offensive firepower, feel like a mirage unless Baker Mayfield hits superstardom.
OSB Prediction: Ravens (-200)
|Odds to Win the AFC South|
This division is tougher than ever after the Texans traded away DeAndre Hopkins to the Cardinals. They can't be trusted under Bill O'Brien. And we're not confident enough in the Colts offense. So while the Titans are far from a sure thing—who knows what Matthew Tannehill will look like under center—we're rolling with them.
OSB Prediction: Titans (+170)
|Odds to win the AFC West|
|Kansas City Chiefs||-425||-500||-450|
|Los Angeles Chargers||+850||+850||+800|
|Las Vegas Raiders||+9000||+10000||+9500|
Imagine picking against the reigning Super Bowl champs. Not only do they have MVP favorite Patrick Mahomes, but they actually beefed up their offense in the draft and free agency. Go with Kansas City all the way here.
OSB Prediction: Chiefs (-425)
|Odds to Win the NFC East|
|New York Giants||+1200||+900||+1000|
Truth be told, the Cowboys don't yet have our trust. Their offense could be top five or bottom 20. We just don't know. With that said, every other option is underwhelming. Carson Wentz is a mystery in Philadelphia, and neither the Giants nor Redskins profile as .500 teams.
OSB Prediction: Cowboys (-110)
|Odds to Win the NFC East|
|New York Giants||+1200||+900||+1000|
People will gravitate towards the Packers. We get it. But they elected against selecting a top wideout in the draft and didn't make a huge offensive dent in free agency. Aaron Rodgers has to do too much heavy lifting. Frankly, we like the Kirk Cousins and Adam Thielen connection in Minnesota.
OSB Prediction: Vikings (+155)
|Odds to win the NFC South|
|New Orleans Saints||-105||-100||-200|
|Tampa Bay Buccaneers||+130||+150||+200|
Tom Brady's arrival in Tampa Bay makes this interesting. How much gas does he have left in the tank? And how will he look outside Bill Belichick's offense? Does Rob Gronkowski have anything left after sitting out a year? That is precisely why we're inclined to go with the Saints, who despite having an aging QB themselves (Drew Brees), also have fewer question marks.
OSB Prediction: Saints (-105)
|Odds to win the NFC West|
|San Francisco 49ers||+115||-105||-100|
|Los Angeles Rams||+530||+475||+500|
Russell Wilson trade chatter appears to be holding down the Seahawks' odds. Color us unafraid. San Francisco is a solid option, but Jimmy Garappolo looked less than impressive during their Super Bowl run. Whatever shine the Rams had with Jared Goff appears to have faded. And though the Cardinals are interesting with Hopkins in tow, they're probably a year away.
OSB Prediction: Seahawks (+230)
Conference Championship Winner Predictions
Here are the top five odds to win the AFC this season:
|Odds to Win the AFC|
|Kansas City Chiefs||+300||+400||+300|
Sticking with last year's champion is usually the boring pick, but not this time. The Chiefs are at the very beginning of what seems like it could be a decade-plus of dominance. And with no regular ol' Patriots to stop them, their biggest threat lies in Buffalo or Baltimore. That's...not exactly intimidating.
OSB Prediction: Chiefs (+300)
Here are the top five odds to win the NFC this season:
|Odds to Win the NFC|
|San Francisco 49ers||+400||+400||+400|
|New Orleans Saints||+500||+550||+500|
|Tampa Bay Buccaneers||+500||+600||+1000|
We're being pulled in a zillion different directions here. We even thought about the Vikings (+1300) for a minute. Ultimately, though, we land on the Saints. Their defense has improved over the pst two seasons, and the offense should still be straight fire.
OSB Prediction: Saints (+500)
Super Bowl Predictions
Here are the top 15 odds to win the Super Bowl this season:
|Odds to Win the Super Bowl 55|
|Kansas City Chiefs||+600||+550||+610|
|San Francisco 49ers||+800||+800||+650|
|New Orleans Saints||+1000||+1000||+1050|
|Tampa Bay Buccaneers||+1000||+1000||+1050|
|Green Bay Packers||+2200||+2100||+2050|
|New England Patriots||+2200||+2200||+2210|
Since we picked the Saints and Chiefs to win their respective conferences, we're clearly choosing one of them here. And by the way, if you're interested, predicting a New Orleans-Kansas City Super Bowl matchup pays out 15-to-1.
Anyway, the Chiefs have an airtight case. We'd be remiss if we went against them. Mahomes is a viable MVP candidate only just entering his prime, and Kansas City has gifted him new backfield weapons to deploy.
OSB Prediction: Chiefs (+600)
