NFL Picks Of The Week

NFL Picks Of The Week
With a slew of major injuries in week two, the NFL season is still wide-open heading into week three. Below we take a look at some of the week's key match-ups including the Battle of Pennsylvania for cross-conference bragging rights.

Week 3 NFL Predictions & Betting Comparisons

Predicted winners in bold, all times are Pacific Standard Time and odds according to Topbet

Pittsburgh Steelers (-3.5) at Philadelphia Eagles at 1:25 p.m. (Over/Under 46.0)

Fresh off a thrashing of the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football, the Eagles are flying high as one of the suprise teams in the NFC. Philly tore up the Bears 29-14. The win was engineered by 2016 first round pick Carson Wentz. The former North Dakota State standout, Wentz threw for 190 yards and one touchdown to upend the Bears. On the other side of the field are the 2-0 Steelers. Buoyed by back-to-back wins, one a blowout over Washington and the other an eight-point win over the Bengals, Pittsburgh is firing away.

With two tough defenses in a tough environment, expect this to be a slugfest, but for the Steelers to prevail. The over here might be reasonable given the strong offensive showings of late.

Houston Texans (-1) at New England Patriots, Thursday at 5:25 p.m. (Over/Under 41.0)

After the loss of another quarterback, the Patriots are counting the days until when Tom Brady returns. Following a should injury to Jimmy Garoppolo, the Pats will trot out former third round pick Jacoby Brissett against the Texans on Thursday night at home. This will be Brissett's first regular season start and a big test against a strong J.J. Watt-led Houston defense.

Another compounding problem for the Patriots is the uncertain future of All-World tight end Rob Gronkowski. The All-Pro isn't expected to play for his third straight week and will give the 2-0 Texans a chance to exploit a thin Patriots offense. New Houston quarterback Brock Osweiler is off to a solid start as the main signal-caller and expects to keep Houston on the same winning path.

Denver Broncos at Cincinnati Bengals (-3) at 10 a.m. (Over/Under 41.0)

Another one of the league's 2-0 teams, the Broncos face one of their toughest tests of the young season with a road contest against the Bengals. Denver is coming off of a dominating 34-20 victory against the Colts, the Broncos once again relying on their brutally stingy defense to make the plays for them.

Quarterback Trevor Siemian has had a relatively easy time transitioning into the starting role and letting the offense adjust to him. Running back C.J. Anderson has been on a tear with two rushing touchdowns already and 166 yards on the ground.

The Bengals had a tough game last week against the Steelers and need wide receiver A.J. Green to get back on point. After a dominating week one with 180 yards and one touchdown against Darrelle Revis, Green was held to just 38 yards last week. Expect the Denver defense to harass quarterback Andy Dalton and for All-Pro linebacker Von Miller to have another awesome game.

Baltimore Ravens at Jacksonville Jaguars (EVEN) at 10 a.m. (Over/Under 47.5)

Jacksonville and Baltimore are on opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of wins, but there's more than meets the eye here. Baltimore has matched up against two of the weaker teams in the AFC (the Browns and the Bills) and were narrowly able to escape both with an average 5.5 points margin of victory. The Jaguars, meanwhile, have battled with the normally strong Packers and the Chargers on the west coast. A place they haven't won in the last five visits.

The Jaguars narrowly defeated the Ravens on the road last season, 22-20 so expect this contest to be more of the same with Jacksonville coming out on top.
