Hurricanes vs Bruins Odds & Prediction

BetOnlineOddsSpreadTotal
Carolina Hurricanes+1.5 (-195)+130Ov 6 (+106)
Boston Bruins-1.5. (+170)-144Un 6 (-117)

Friday brings a battle between two of the top teams in the league as the Carolina Hurricanes visit the Boston Bruins, who are in first place in the Atlantic Division. The Canes are 10-6-4 on the year but are in the midst of a four-game losing skid. The worst part is the first three defeats all came in OT, which means Carolina was close. On Wednesday, they fell 4-0 to the lowly Arizona Coyotes, struggling to get anything going offensively. Scoring goals has actually been an issue for this group, finding the back of the net just 2.7 times per game. Instead, the Hurricanes are thriving defensively, limiting opponents to only 2.8 goals and 25.4 shots on goal per night. That's second-best in the NHL. They'll certainly be tested Friday against an electric Bruins squad.

Boston looks ready to do some serious damage in 2022, possessing one of the best all-around offenses in the league. David Pastrnak has scored 13 goals and tallied 17 assists already, while fellow veteran Patrice Bergeron has bagged nine and assisted another nine. Four other players have netted at least six times. The Bruins were enjoying a seven-game winning streak before losing to the Panthers on Wednesday, 5-2. Charlie McAvoy and Pastrnak scored, but the NHL's best defense conceded a rare five goals. You better believe Boston is going to be pumped up to bounce back here.

The Canes did take out the Bruins in the first round of the playoffs last season, but I'm riding Boston here. This is their first chance at revenge and I expect them to deliver.

Avalanche vs Predators Odds & Prediction

BetOnlineOddsSpreadTotal
Colorado Avalanche-1.5 (+195)-125Ov 6 (-106)
Nashville Predators+1.5 (-225)+113Un 6 (-104)

The defending champion Colorado Avalanche travel to Nashville to face the Predators on Black Friday, looking to improve upon their 11-6-1 record. The Avs are once again one of the top teams in the league, showing a ton of consistency on both ends of the ice. They're ninth in goals and fourth in goals allowed. Mikko Rantanen is the leading catalyst, scoring 13 times and supplying 15 assists. Nathan MacKinnon has been the main provider with 22 assists and five goals. Colorado is coming off a surprising loss to the Vancouver Canucks, 4-3. Rantanen scored twice, but the Avalanche blew a 3-2 lead in the third period. On a more positive note, the Avs are 7-2 ATS in their last nine outings and 4-1 ATS on the road in their previous five games.

The Preds are in the middle of the pack in the Central Division with a 9-9-2 record, which is good for sixth spot. The biggest issue for Nashville is producing in front of goal. They rank 29th in goals scored wiith 2.55 per contest and 23rd in shots on goal. Filip Forsberg's seven goals and 12 assists lead the way. The Predators are fresh off a 3-0 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday, once again struggling to muster up opportunities. Considering how solid Colorado's blue line is, it won't be any easier on Friday. That's a guarantee. Unfortunately, their ATS record isn't pretty either, going 6-13 in the last 19 games.

Nashville has actually won three of their last four against the Avs. However, instead of focusing on a winning bet, I'm looking at the over in the NHL Black Friday picks, which has comfortably been hit in five straight meetings. Lock it in.
