UFC 245 Betting Breakdown

Kamaru Usman (-175) vs. Colby Covington (+145)

Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington is the most anticipated of UFC 245’s three title fights. And it’s easy to see why.

Both Usman and Covington enter this matchup with lengthy winning streaks. Usman is in the middle of a 14-victory run while Covington has won each of his past seven battles in the Octagon.

Though Usman opened as a much heavier favorite, at around +330, the line has moved in a somewhat drastic fashion. Bettors and oddsmakers alike appear to be recognizing that Usman and Covington are far closer in talent than it would appear.

Indeed, Usman has the more extensive fighting resume and success. But both men are strong, consistent strikers who overwhelm their opponents by way of volume and accuracy.

That should make for a decision-long dance between these two. And the longer the fight goes, the better it bodes for Covington. His stamina is otherworldly, and he’s shown more variation in his style, mixing in some deadeye kicks and effective grappling. At +145, we like him to pull off the upset in a fight that goes the distance.

OSB Prediction: Colby Covington (+145)

Max Holloway (-175) vs. Alexander Volkanovski (+145)

Here we have yet another fight that features two opponents riding relative winning streaks. Alexander Volkanovski has taken home each of his past 17 matchups, while Max Holloway hasn’t lost in the featherweight division since 2014, a stretch covering 14 victories.

It might surprise some to see Holloway enter as such a clear favorite. Volkanovski sports a nice combination of both speed and power on his strikes and is someone forever on knockout-victory watch.

Still, Holloway is just as powerful, and he’s able to connect on his own combinations from a greater distance. Not many fighters know how to use their length as well.

OSB Prediction: Max Holloway (-175)

Amanda Nunes (-310) vs. Germaine de Randamie (+240)

Oddsmakers aren’t messing around with this fight. Amanda Nunes is a heavy favorite, and she has the reputation to back it up.

Five of Nunes’ last six matchups have featured her completely devastating her opponent. The tally: Four knockouts and one submission. She also has a 2013 TKO win against Germaine de Randamie under her belt.

Make no mistake, Randamie can fight. She knows how to keep opponents on their feet. But Nunes is the far more versatile fighter and the much better grappler. She’ll turn this into a wrestling match when she can, and failing that, she has the power behind her strikes and kicks to chase yet another knockout.

OSB Prediction: Amanda Nunes (-310)
