2013 NHL Stanley Cup Finals Game 4: Bruins vs. Blackhawks

Boston Bruins: A win away from a 3-1 series stranglehold

Following back-to-back wins, the Boston Bruins are poised to take a 3-1 lead in the Stanley Cup Finals prior to the series heading back to the Windy City for Game 5 on Saturday night. Since blowing a 3-1 lead in the third period of Game 1, and getting out-shot 19-4 in the first period of Game 2, the Bruins have rediscovered their lock-down defense. The Big Bad Bruins are also impossing their will on Chicago as they have out-hit them by a 81-59 count over the last two games. That’s not good for a Hawks team that relies on a steady game flow.

Chicago Blackhawks: Need to solve the Bruins defense and Tuukka Rask

Boston has allowed the Hawks just 37 shots over the last five regulation periods – while pounding 51 shots at the Chicago net. Goaltender Tuukka Rask is having a Conn Smythe type playoff year as he recorded his third shutout on Monday and he’s allowed just 35 goals on 652 shots. Don’t forget, Boston has the last line change again tonight and that has gotten into Hawks coach Joel Quenneville’s head. Trying to keep the likes of Chara and Lucic off Chicago stars like Kane and Sharp has consumed Coach Q behind the Chicago bench.
