Our Favorite NFL Picks For Week 2

Tom Brady and the Patriots travel to Jacksonville in Week 2.

Picking the outcomes of games early on in the season is pretty difficult, but while our words fall short of gospel, we’re really vibing the following tilts leading into the second week of the regular season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Spread: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+3.0), Philadelphia Eagles (-3.0)

Moneyline: Bucs (+150), Eagles (-170)

Over/Under: 44.0

Pump the brakes on all optimism for the Bucs. They hung 48 points on a New Orleans defense that doesn’t look like it’s set to deliver an encore to last year’s stellar performance. That isn’t going to happen again. Not against the Eagles anyway.

Josh McCown’s Week 1 was a fluke, and Philly’s defense is scary. Nick Foles looks rocky under center for the Eagles, but this is a game the reigning champs should cruise through.

Our pick: Eagles (-3.0)

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. New England Patriots

Spread: Jacksonville Jaguars (-2.0), New England Patriots (+2.0)

Moneyline: Jaguars (+110), Patriots (-130)

Over/Under: 44.5

Buy into the Jaguars as Super Bowl contenders. Seriously, do it. But don’t pick them to beat the Patriots. Not even at home.

New England just beat a solid Houston squad while playing far from its best football. Jacksonville poses an equally tough test, but it boasts an offense that’s easier to defend. This one should be close, but it should also end in a Patriots victory.

Our pick: Patriots (+2.0)

Chicago Bears vs. Seattle Seahawks

Spread: Chicago Bears (-3.5), Seattle Seahawks (+3.5)

Moneyline: Bears (-175), Seahawks (+155)

Over/Under: 43.5

Remember when the Seahawks were defensive stalwarts? Good times.

People are probably overrating the Bears after their near-win over Green Bay in Week 1. But the defense looks legitimate. That should make all the difference against a Seahawks offense continually lacking in reliable firepower.

Our pick: Bears (-3.5)

Upsets To Watch For

Can Eli Manning's Giants rebound from Week 1?

Although the underdogs in these games aren’t seeing a ton of love, we endorse taking a long, hard look at their moneylines and spreads.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Spread: Pittsburgh Steelers (-5), Kansas City Chiefs (+5)

Moneyline: Steelers (-230), Chiefs (+190)

Over/Under: 52.5

Maybe quarterback Patrick Mahomes and wide receiver Tyreek Hill aren’t the NFL’s next unstoppable superstar tandem. Then again, maybe they are.

This Chiefs offense is terrifying. Having Kareem Hunt, Sammy Watkins and Travis Kelce on top of Hill is unfair, and Mahomes appears to be coming into his own. Indeed, their Week 1 victory came against an overrated Los Angeles defense, but neither Pittsburgh’s offense nor defense is anything to fear. Remember: The Steelers just finished in a deadlock with Cleveland, and they may still be without star running back Le’Veon Bell.

Our pick: Chiefs (+5)

Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants

Spread: Dallas Cowboys (-3.0), New York Giants (+3.0)

Moneyline: Cowboys (-155), Giants (+135)

Over/Under: 42.5

Both the Cowboys and Giants failed to impress at the offensive side in their Week 1 losses. They combined for 23 points between them.

That shouldn’t hold for long, though. The Giants, at the very least, looked to find a groove later in Week 1. The Cowboys’ defensive line will be fairly tough to crack for running back Saquon Barkley, but Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr. should be able to do some damage against the secondary.

Our pick: Giants (+3.0)
