Blue Jackets Visit Penguins for Game One of Playoff Series

Penguins ready for another run at the Cup

Pittsburgh is prepared for another run at the league title and it all begins for them on Wednesday night in front of their home fans. The Penguins were close to finishing atop the Eastern Conference, but allowed the Bruins to pull away with the honor late in the season. Now, the Penguins enter the post-season as the two-seed. They get to face the wild-card Blue Jackets to open their Stanley Cup run. The Penguins won all five regular-season meetings, outscoring Columbus 16-8.

Blue Jackets still shooting for first playoff win

Columbus has yet to win a playoff game since entering the league in 2000. They are now in the Eastern Conference following the league’s re-alignment to begin this season. When they were moved to the conference, the Blue Jackets made it known that they wanted to start a geographic rivalry with the Penguins. They are the closest team to Pittsburgh in terms of mileage (185). This series could be the start of what they are looking for in a rivalry.

Pittsburgh is the favorite to win tonight’s game one contest with Columbus by 1.5 points on the spread. We definitely like Pittsburgh to win this game, which is why we will bet 15 percent of our bankroll on the Penguins, but we will place our bet on the -200 money line over at the sportsbook found at The sooner you place your bets, the sooner you can prepare for the game and enjoy the opening night of the playoffs.
