Braves Begin Second-Half Defense of NL East Title Against Phillies

Braves ready to go on a tear in search of division title

Atlanta knows that a second straight NL East title will not be easy, especially since the Nationals are starting to get healthy. The Braves do know one thing, they will not have to worry about the Phillies chasing them down this season. Atlanta will open a three-game set with the last-place Phillies on Friday night as they look to win their third straight game.

Phillies prepared to say goodbye to some veterans

With the trade deadline just weeks away, the Phillies have some difficult decisions to make when it comes to their roster. We have already heard that Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley want to stay in the City of Brotherly Love, but who knows what will happen between now and July 31. The team that takes the field Friday night could look very different when it takes the field on August 1 following the deadline.

We will find the betting odds for the Braves and the Phillies at tonight, where the Braves are favorites to win this contest. We are going to split our bet on Atlanta and the -1.5 (+135) spread and the UNDER seven total runs scored at +105 as they win the series opener. To split our bet, we will place 20 percent of our bankroll down on these two wagers.
