Calgary vs. Saskatchewan: Top CFL Rivalry Heats Up Friday Night

Riders impressive in CFL Week 1 thumping of the Eskimos

Rider Nation will be out in full force as the Roughriders return to Saskatchewan to open their home schedule tonight. While some may say that the Green Riders 39-18 win over the Eskimos was against inferior talent but the game was on the road and the Riders were impressive on both sides of the ball. QB Darian Durant looked sharp as he completed 14 of 22 passes for 171 yards and three touchdowns. RB Kory Sheets was even more impressive with 145 total yards and one TD on 19 touches. The Saskatchewan defense was solid as well but their numbers are skewed asthe Eskimos ran 33 plays to just 16 for the Riders in the fourth quarter.

Stampeders: Home opening win good for the Stamps and their flooded Fans

Calgary football fans showed that they will always make it out to pack the park at McMahon Stadium – Come Hell or High Water. The Red & White fanatics were experiencing a lot of both as the Stampeders opened their season at home on June 28, 2013. That was six days after devastating floods ravaged the Southern Alberta landscape. Stamps players, the Club itself, and the teams great Fans all donated flood relief funds during the game and the Stamps crushed the BC Lions 44-32. The final score is actually a little flattering as the Leo’s scored an eight-point play with just one second left on the game clock to make the final tally look respectable.
