Canadian Football League Regular Season Starts Friday Night

CFL 2012 Kickoff: Grey Cup Favorites Host Green Riders

Consider it an appetizer, to the football betting feast that will be served up in late August and early September, as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats open the 2012 CFL regular season against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. With recently signed QB Henry Burris under center, the Steel City Cats are the preseason second chalk (9/2) to win the 100th Grey Cup Championship on November 25, 2012, from Rogers Center in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Later, at 10:00 PM ET on June 29, 2012, the British Columbia Lions defense of their 2011 CFL Championship begins as they host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers from BC Place Stadium in Vancouver. In that same building, back on November 27, 2011, the Lions defeated the Blue Bombers 34-23 to capture the 99th Grey Cup Championship. Popular online sportsbooks have the defending Champs as 7/2 favorites to repeat in 2012.

East vs. West Football Action Highlights The CFL Weekend Schedule

Pigskin betting action continues with a pair of games on the weekend CFL schedule. On Saturday, the new look Toronto Argonuats invade Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton to battle the hometown Eskimos. A ton of intrigue surrounds this game as QB Ricky Ray, who piloted the green and gold for nine seasons, will play in his first regular season contest with the Boatmen. Ray passed for 40,529 yards, with 210 TD, as an Eskimo.

CFL 2012 Opening Weekend action wraps up in Calgary, AB, as the Stampeders host the Montreal Alouettes on Sunday, July 1. The Stamps red and white team colors will be very apropos as fans will be celebrating the Canada Day National Holiday in style at McMahon Stadium. This is a grudge match of the 96th Grey Cup as the Stamps defeated Montreal 22-14 in that contest. CFL pro football action is indeed back – and we love it!
