Cardinals Looking to Move Closer to NL Central Crown in Phoenix

Cardinals yet to secure Central crown

As the Major League season comes to an end, the Cardinals still have not won the NL Central crown. They are doing their best to prevent the Pirates from overtaking the division lead with just three games left on the schedule. St. Louis will send Michael Wacha to the mound on Friday night in the opener of this series. A win tonight would lower the Cardinals magic number to two with two games left.

Diamondbacks want to end season on a high note

The best way that Arizona can end their season is by sweeping the Cardinals and preventing them from winning the NL Central crown. This is a long shot, especially since they will be sending some shaky pitchers to the mound in the series. Trevor Cahill will open the series. He is 3-12 with a 5.55 ERA this year for Arizona. Do not expect much of a pitcher’s duel in this contest as Arizona’s offense has been hurting without Paul Goldschmidt.

We will place our wager on Friday night for the Cardinals and the Diamondbacks over at BetOnline.ag, where St. Louis is favored to win on the road. We will bet 15 percent of our bankroll on St. Louis and the OVER eight total runs scored as they win the first game of this series and lower their magic number at the same time.
