Cardinals Out to Push Reds Further Down the NL Central Ladder
Cardinals still fighting to overcome the Brewers in Central
St. Louis has yet to overcome Milwaukee at the top of the NL Central standings despite coming very close to doing so. The Cardinals will send one of their newest acquisitions to the mound tonight in the person of Justin Masterson. He is 2-1 with a 6.00 ERA since coming over from the Indians at the trade deadline. He threw seven innings of shutout ball against the Marlins the last time he took the mound.
Reds have fallen out of contention quickly in a tight Central race
Cincinnati dropped out of contention in the NL Central early in the season and has yet to regain any ground in the standings. The Reds are under new management this season with Bryan Price at the helm after spending time as Dusty Baker’s pitching coach. Despite being two games under .500, the Reds are just 4.5 games out of an NL Wild Card spot, but they would have to jump four teams to get there.
When the Reds visit the Cardinals on Monday night in St. Louis, we will use the odds found at BetOnline.ag. At this online sportsbook, the Cardinals are favored at home. We like St. Louis to win the series opener, which is why we will bet 15 percent of our bankroll on the Cardinals and the -139 money line.
