Red Wings: Look to rebound after Opening Day blowout
Detroit is on the road for a second straight game to open the 2013 NHL season as they travel to Columbus tonight. The Wings should be a fairly unruly bunch after they were blown out 6-0 by St. Louis in their season opener. Life without Nicklas Lidstrom and Tomas Holmstrom did not start good for the Red Wings as the Blues registered a 36-14 shot advantage. The Wings have won five of the last seven games in this series.
Blue Jackets: Coming off season opening win over the Nashville Predators
Count us in the crowd that was surprised but the gritty effort put forth by Columbus as they opened their season on the road in Nashville on Saturday. The Blue Jackets recovered for one goal deficits twice before beating the Predators 3-2 in a shootout. A win is a win, but we wouldn’t start planning a Stanley Cup parade down East Main Street in Columbus anytime soon. The rebuilding Blue Jackets are not a good hockey club.
