Detroit vs. Houston: Strikeout Ace faces top MLB strikeout team
Strikeout Kings on pace to shatter MLB punchout record
Offensively speaking, whether it’s sand-lot ball or the Major Leagues, no team or player wants to be known as the Strikeout King. Donning the Crown is even worse when your team’s ERA is dead last in the league. That’s the scenario surrounding Houston as the Astros have whiffed 300 times, in just 30 matches, and their pitching staff owns a 5.29 ERA. The Oakland Athletics had 8.4 punchouts per game to set an AL record with 1,387 K’s last season but they posted a 3.48 ERA – sixth best in the Majors. Arizona holds the overall single season record with 1529 K’s during the 2010 MLB season. Houston is on pace to reach 1,600 strikeouts.
Streaking Tigers are on the prowl for a sweep in the Lone Star State
Detroit is finally on the roll we thought they would be on this season as the Motor City Cats have won seven of their last eight contests. We’ll be the first to admit that we got a little lucky with the Tigers 4-3 win in comeback fashion last night. That said, all the numbers were in favor of Detroit so we’ll credit our research and bank the win! As mentioned, simple math is guiding us this weekend as Mark Scherzer and Justin Verlander are both in line for a double digit strikeout day. We’ll load up on Detroit with the -200 ML at sportsbook.com tonight and roll it over with the money line and the Vaporizer on Sunday! Time to watch the Kentucky Derby – Good Luck!
