Blue Jays and Angels: Top American League Chalk
Both busy buyers in the off-season, the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Angles have been posted as the top favorites (+400) to capture the 2013 American League Pennant. The Blue Jays bolstered their pitching staff with R.A. Dickey and Mark Buehrle as well as their batting order with the likes Melky Cabrera and Jose Reyes. The Angels added the power of Josh Hamilton to compliment the likes of Mark Trumbo, Mike Trout, and Albert Pujols. The Detroit Tigers and Texas Rangers are next at +500 while the New York Yankees at +700 round out the top five. Baltimore at +2000 are longshots with chance in the American League.
Nationals and Reds: Leading candidates to win the National League Pennant
Following their best season, since arriving in Washington (98-64) eight years ago, the Nationals (+350) are posted as top chalk to win the National League Pennant chase. Cincinnati (+400) brought back memories of the Big Red Machine as the Reds 97-65 record in 2012 was their highest win total since they won 102 games and the World Series in 1976. The Los Angeles Dodgers also bulked up their roster in the off-season and they are the third favorite in the Senior Circuit at +650 odds. The Atlanta Braves (+650) sit as fourth favorites, while the Philadelphia Phillies and defending World Series Champion San Francisco Giants (+800) are tied for fifth.
