MLB National League Central 2012 Division Betting Preview
St. Louis Cardinals & Milwaukee Brewers Face Shakeups
In what could be the most evenly matched division in all of Major League Baseball, we take a look at the betting odds to win the National League Central Division in 2012. The NL Central is home of the defending World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals and the 2011 NLC pennant winning Milwaukee Brewers.
Both of these teams will be hard pressed to duplicate their 2011 success as the Cardinals and Brewers both lost the heart of their clubs when Albert Pujols bolted for Los Angeles and Prince Fielder fled to Detroit. Of the two teams, we feel the Brewers have the best chance to maintain their success.
Cincinnati Reds Lead The Best Of The Rest In The NL Central
With the both the Brewers and Cardinals trying to replace the core of their respective clubs, the door is open for the Cincinnati Reds to return to the glory years of the “Big Red Machine”. The Reds can make an argument that they now have the best hitter in the National League in Joey Votto who is backed up by hard hitting outfielder Jay Bruce. The addition of RHP Mat Latos to the Reds starting rotation should also help.
Make no mistake though, with the likes of the Pittsburgh Pirates (72 wins in 2011) the Chicago Cubs (71 wins) and the lowly Houston Astros (56 wins) this is a three horse race. The Cardinals 2011 World Series win was fluke and we will not see a NLC Wild Card entry when the 2012 MLB postseason rolls around.
We would be shocked if any team in the NLC won more than 90 games and we like the Reds to win this division. Register a personal betting account to get in on divisional championship future wagering today!
