American League leading Detroit Tigers prowl the Big Apple
Following their series opening 6-1 thumping of the New York Mets last night, the Detroit Tigers (75-53) are now tied with the Texas Rangers as the top team in the American League. Detroit is also the top hitting club in the Majors as they’re currently sporting a .281 team batting average. The Tigers are led by the best hitter in baseball as Miguel Cabrera (.356 batting average) continues his all-world play and Miggy is a near lock to win back-to-back American League regular season MVP honors. Throw in one of the best pitchers in the game today, RHP Max Scherzer who is 18-1 with a 2.82 ERA this season, and the Metropolitans are in trouble here.
New York Mets stumble and fumble through yet another losing MLB season
Sitting with a 58-68 record, New York will need to finish the 2013 MLB season with a 23-13 record in order to avoid their fifth straight losing season – that’s not happening. At the opposite end of the hitting spectrum from the Tigers, the Mets currently own the 27th worst team batting average (.240) in baseball. If there’s a concern for Detroit backers here, it’s the fact that New York will send their ace, RHP Matt Harvey (9-4 ERA 225) to the bump today. Harvey has been brilliant, on a bad baseball club, as he’s allowed just 43 earned runs over 171.2 inning pitched. We’ll load up on the Tigers and the -137 money line offered at the topbet.eu sportsbook!
