NFL Week 10 Handicapping: Vikings vs Lions Betting Lines

Detroit Lions: Gaining momentum with a 3-1 recent run

After a shaky start to the NFL 2012 season, the Detroit Lions (4-4) are starting to pick up some steam as they have won three of their last four contests. Detroit has improved on both sides of the ball and they have also made huge strides in their kickoff and punt coverage recently. After they allowed four special team scores in tough to take Week 3 and 4 loses, the Lions have been solid on kick coverage over the last four contests.

On offense, the Lions have gotten a huge boost from RB Mikel Leshoure as defenses must now respect the Detroit ground game. LeShoure’s recent play has taken some pressure off QB Matt Stafford and the Cats talented receivers are also finding more space downfield. Detroit can score from anywhere – at anytime.

Minnesota Vikings: Ship has run aground after a white hot season start

Minnesota (5-4) is a mirror opposite of the Lions as the Vikings busted out of the gate with a 4-1 record but have now dropped three of their last four contests. The lone win was a less than impressive 21-14 home victory over a struggling Arizona Cardinals crew that has lost five straight games. Defense has become a huge liability in Minnesota as the Vikings last three losses were by a combined 104-63 final count.

As if they don’t already lean on him enough, Vikings all-world RB Adrian Peterson will be asked to carry even more of the load this weekend as star WR/KR Percy Harvin (ankle) is unlikely to suit up on Sunday. The Lions love to pressure the QB and Christian Ponder has looked horrible under center recently – he is in tough here.

Online Sports Betting Detroit vs Minnesota NFL Week 10 Handicapping Call

Checking in at the topbet.eu online sports wagering website, we find the Lions as rare road favorites at -2.5 points against the spread and -140 on the money line. The Vikings, at home under the big white bubble, get +120 straight up while the Over/Under for this contest has been set at 47 total points. We like how things are coming together for Detroit while Minnesota appears to be falling apart.

There is always cause for concern when you bet against Purple Jesus. That said, the Lions defense will stack the box and force Ponder to beat them through the air and he doesn’t have the weapons to accomplish that. Detroit moves ahead of Minnesota in the NFC playoff race with a win. Give us the Motor City Cats to avenge their 20-13 Week 4 home loss as we will lay the -2.5 (-110) point spread at the TopBet sportsbook!
