Following an embarrassing 6-3 loss to the New York Islanders back on March 5, Montréal has rebounded nicely with three straight wins and now sit tied with the Pittsburgh Penguins for the top spot in the NHL Eastern Conference. Following Wednesday night action Montréal will have played three more games than Boston who are just a point behind them so this is a big game for the Habs. Carey Price is having an MVP type season in the Montréal nets and, after a day off on Sunday, he’s back between the pipes tonight.
Ottawa Senators: Slipping some in the Eastern Conference standings
Sitting one point out of first overall in the NHL Eastern Conference standings as recently as 27/02/13 a run of 1-3-2 has dropped Ottawa to fifth overall as they are now seven points behind Montréal and Pittsburgh. We have talked about the key injuries the Senators have faced in previous posts. Ottawa’s recent record shows that losing stars like Jason Spezza and Erik Karlsson are starting to take a toll. This will be the fourth meeting between these clubs this season. Ottawa won two of the first three games including a 2-1 win on 25/02/12.
