Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Carolina Hurricanes: NHL Wagering Lines

Pittsburgh Penguins: Offense and defense both firing early

Although it’s still very early in the 2013-14 National Hockey League season, Pittsburgh is already showing that they are one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference once again this season. The Penguins have fired out to a 2-0 record has they have home wins over the New Jersey Devils (3-0) and Buffalo Sabres (4-1). We find it impressive that eleven Pittsburgh players have registered at least a point over the first two contests. If the Pens defense, that has allowed just one goal, can keep up with the offense – this team could win 60 games.

Carolina Hurricanes: Bad defense and lack scoring are problems on the coast

There’s isn’t a lot of optimism in Carolina this season. The Hurricanes will witness a lot of storms while playing in the same division with the likes of the Rangers, Penguins, and Capitals. Even the Blue Jackets, Islanders and Flyers appear to posses more talent than the Hurricanes. That leaves Carolina and New Jersey to battle it out for the Metropolitan Division cellar. Carolina opened the new NHL season with two straight  home games. The Canes lost their opener 3-2 in OT to Detroit and then squeaked out a 2-1 win over the Flyers on Sunday.
