Texans vs Bengals NFL Wild Card Playoff Odds and Prediction

Houston Texans: Stumbling finish a sign of things to come?

Once viewed as lock to earn home field advantage throughout the the 2013 AFC postseason, Houston stumbled down the stretch and dropped all the way down to the third seed. The Texans (12-4) closed the season on a 1-3 roll and were outscored 110-65 during the collapse. After throwing 21 TD passes and 11 INT through the first 12 contests, QB Matt Schaub has one TD pass and three INT over his last four games.

Running back Arian Foster has also been slowed recently as he’s eclipsed the 100 yard rushing mark just once in the last five games. The Houston offensive line has been pointed out as the overall reason for the Texans lack of production on offense. While that may be true, the Texans defense has also been less than stellar recently as they have allowed almost 27 points per game over the last seven contests.

Cincinnati Bengals: Streaking into the playoffs with a 7-1 recent run

After opening the season with a 3-5 record, Cincinnati turned on the jets and closed with wins in seven of their last eight games. The roll started with a convincing 31-13 home win over the New York Giants and finished with wins over AFC North rivals Pittsburgh and Baltimore. Defense, probably more than anything, has been the difference for the Bengals as they have held six of their last eight opponents to 13 points or less.

Quarterback Andy Dalton, WR A.J. Greene, and TE Jermaine Gresham, along with recharged RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis, are the keys the Cincinnati offense. The Bengals were 6-2 on the road in 2012 although that record comes against the likes of the Jaguars, Chiefs, and Eagles and one of the loses was in Cleveland. The Bengals are back in Houston for the first since they were walloped 31-10 during Wild Card Weekend last year.

Online Sports Betting Bengals vs Texans Betting Lines and Prediction

Surfing over to the topbet.eu online sportsbook, we find the Texans posted as -4.5 (-110) spread favorites and -210 chalk on the money line. Bengals backers are getting +175 straight up and the Over/Under is set at 43.5 total points. We liked the Texans to play in Super Bowl XLVII but we’re less than thrilled about them now. That said, we like Houston at home here and will drop a 10% bankroll bet on the -210 ML at TopBet!
