The Players Championship: PGA Tour 2012 Betting Lines
TPC Handicapping Favorites: Rory Mcllroy Leads The Way
PGA Tour betting fans get treated to a Mini-Major as The Players Championship goes from May 10 -13, 2012. With a total purse of $9.5 million up for grabs – the winner banks a cool $1,710,000. Not bad for walking around the beautiful (though very tough) TPC Sawgrass over four days – we should all be so fortunate!
As he was at the Master’s – Rory Mcllroy, with four Top Ten finishes over five 2012 PGA starts, is the favorite heading into play on Thursday. The Irsihmen leads the field with a 9/1 betting line, followed by Lee Westwood and Luke Donald tied at 14/1 as second chalk. Mcllroy tuned up for the TPC with a second place finish at the Wells Fargo Championship last weekend. Phil Mickelson and Eldrick, with 20/1 odds, round out the top five.
Interesting Long Shots Could Be Worth A Morning Line Wagering Gamble
After the top five chalk, the betting lines jump considerably as 144 players will start in the TPC. Webb Simpson, who leads the PGA in cuts made and putting average, comes in with a host of golfers at 40/1 odds that includes Jim Furyk, Justin Rose, and Sergio Garcia. Ben Curtis and Bill Haas who both come with 80/1 odds also intrigue us. At the end of the day, this is a wide open field – watch out for the dogs!
Popular online betting sites, like Bovada.lv, have golf handicappers covered from tee to green this weekend. Bet on the eventual winner or one of several prop options – including Head-to-Head wagering. That’s where we’ll be laying our cash as we like Phil Mickelson over Eldrick at -125 odds. Register a betting account, at any of our top ranked online sportsbooks, to get in on the PGA Tour – TPC wagering excitement!
