Two Struggling Teams Meet Wednesday Night in Chicago

Cubs trying to fill open rotation spots

Chicago has been having trouble filling two of its open spots in the starting rotation since trading Jason Hammel and Jeff Samardzija to the Athletics earlier this season. Tsuyoshi Wada will make just his second start of the season in the big leagues tonight. He is 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA after allowing one unearned run on in five innings pitched against the Cincinnati Reds on July 8. He was leading the PCL in strikeouts at the time of his call-up.

Padres falling closer to bottom of NL West

San Diego is not in last place in the NL West just yet, but they are moving closer. The Padres are 12.5 games out of first and just 3.5 games ahead of the Rockies for the final spot in the standings. They are 3-7 in their last 10 games played and will be without Cameron Maybin for 25 games after he was suspended without pay for an unnamed amphetamine. Maybin had previously tested positive once, but had only received a warning from the league.

We are going to use the odds found at SportsBetting.ag on Wednesday night when be place our bet on the Padres and Cubs from Chicago. At this sportsbook, the Cubs are home chalk with Wada making just his second start of the season at the Major League level. We will drop 10 percent of our bankroll on the Cubs and the -112 money line.
