Week 9 NFL Top 5 Fantasy Football Players

Week 9 NFL Top 5 Fantasy Football Players
It’s crunch time in the fantasy football world. Heading into the second half of the National Football League season, there’s little to no room for error when deciding which players to start and which ones to glue to your bench. Can Russell Wilson repeat the same success that made him the top fantasy QB during Week 8 action? We break down the top five players in our Week 9 Fantasy Football Rankings.

Russell Wilson (QB)

Wilson

The Seattle Seahawks are showing signs of what made them champions three short years ago and they have their star quarterback to thank for the most part.

Russell Wilson is coming off an exceptional week in which he recorded 452 passing yards and four touchdowns in a 41-38 victory over the Houston Texans. The Seahawks are preparing to face the Washington Redskins in Week 9, which means Wilson could be in for another big offensive day. Wilson has posted back-to-back games with 300 or more passing yards.

As seven-point favorites heading into their Sunday contest against Washington, it’s crucial to have Wilson slotted as your No. 1 quarterback position — especially in deeper leagues. DraftKings.com also has Wilson as the top-ranked QB heading into Week 9.

DeAndre Hopkins (WR)

Hopkins

The Houston Texans suffered a major blow when starting QB DeShaun Watson went down with a season-ending knee injury. That may have huge implications on DeAndre Hopkins’ impact heading into Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts. Hopkins is coming off a monster offensive performance where he collected 224 receiving yards with a touchdown in a loss to Seattle.

But even without Watson taking snaps, Hopkins is still Houston’s biggest threat on the field and comes in as the top fantasy football receiver on our list heading into Week 9.

Kareem Hunt (RB)

Hunt

The Kansas City Chiefs rookie rusher is having quite the debut season. Kareem Hunt leads the NFL is rushing with 763 yards heading into a very tough matchup against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9.

Despite having a couple of weeks, Hunt still managed to top our list of fantasy football running back — coming in ahead of Le’Veon Bell and LeSean McCoy.

While Hunt has been putting up the yards, the rookie has struggled to find the back of the end zone. His last touchdown was Sept. 24 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Look for Hunt’s workload to increase against a mediocre Cowboys rush defense.

Zach Ertz (TE)

Ertz

The Philadelphia Eagles veteran tight end has certainly benefitted from playing with Carson Wentz this season. Ertz, in his fifth season in Philadelphia, leads all tight ends with a career-best six touchdown receptions.

Of course, he has some stiff competition to hold down the No. 1 spot, most notably New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski. If Ertz can remain healthy, he’s on pace to also pass his career best in receiving yards of 853, which was set in 2015. The Eagles (7-1) are 8-point favorites against the struggling Denver Broncos. Look for Ertz to get in on the scoring once again.

Todd Gurley (RB)

Gurley

After recording 100 or more rushing yards in a single game for the fourth time this season, Todd Gurley is making a case to be considered the top running back in the NFL.

Coming off a Bye week, Gurley will be refreshed to add to his impressive totals when the Los Angeles Rams travel to New York to face the struggling Giants. Gurley has been Los Angeles’ primary threat in the backfield and expect that to continue on Sunday.
