As the saying goes, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. The Canucks who joined the NHL in 1970, were swept in the 1982 Cup final by the New York Islanders. They’ve been back to two more finals since and came as close as you can to winning without winning, losing in seven games to the New York Rangers in 1994 and to the Boston Bruins in 2011.
