Online Sports Betting Strategies
When betting on sports online you should always have somewhat of a method to your madness. It’s not always the best idea to bet on teams just because they have mascots that you find amusing, or bet against teams just because you think they have mean players or a coach you do not like. There are many online sports betting strategies to take into consideration prior to laying your wagers down. Online sports betting strategies are what set apart the newbies from the veterans and could be the main difference between a winning week and a losing week.
Top 5 Sports Betting Strategies
Sports Betting Teaser Strategy
Teasing and regular Point Spread betting on underdogs does work. Many bettors stay away, or just plain don’t know how to tease the Point Spread and don’t realize the potential of the increased odds it gives you without hammering your payout odds too much. For example, in NCAAB March Madness betting you might see two games where the home teams are listed as +18 point underdogs. This is a great example of when you should tease the Point Spread. In this case if you tease both games by +6 points that means your home underdogs only have to lose by less than +24 points which should be easy to do considering teams usually play a lot better than expected in front of a rowdy home crowd.
Underdog Betting Strategy
Don’t bet on the underdog just because of a touching story. More often than not avid sports fans find themselves rooting for the little guy, and/or just betting on the little guy because they feel bad for them. We like happy endings as much as the next guy but we have to be smart. Unfortunately underdogs are listed as such because the other team is better. Only bet on underdogs if the game is projected to be very close or if you have been following the underdog and think you know something that others don’t. It’s not rare to see underdogs win, but that’s just because they were capable of being the better team that day, it has nothing to do with the team being inspired by the Grinch steeling all of the town’s kids’ presents the night before Christmas.
The “Chase Betting” strategy
Don’t chase your losses. If you have a bad Sunday, don’t try to make it all back in the Monday night game. Hot streaks come and go, keep your risk amount consistent. If you are always flip flopping between risk amounts, you could end up losing money even if you are picking 90% winners. There’s no shame in riding the wave and betting on extra games when you are feeling it, and staying away entirely when you are on a cold streak. Leave the “double or nothing” betting strategy for the Blackjack tables. In sports betting you need to be disciplined and not get greedy just because you see a potential big payout.
Bet With Your Brain, Not With Your Heart
Bet with your brain, not heart. Men often have a problem using everything but their brain to think. When it comes to sports betting, sometimes we are more likely to bet with our heart, rather than our brain which is not a good betting strategy in sports or even life for that matter. Don’t bet on the team that you wish to win, but bet on the team that you think is going to win. The result of this good betting strategy will end up having you rooting for the team to win because you have money on them, not because you love them! Stay away from teams that you have a sweet spot for because they won’t be the ones paying for your vasectomy.
Don’t Bet on Your Home Team!
Don’t bet on your home team. Betting on your home team often results in a lose-lose situation. There’s nothing worse than having your home team lose and then realizing at the end of the game that you had money riding on them too. It’s like being kicked in the teeth. Also another common mistake amongst rookie bettors is betting against their home team thinking it will result in a win-win situation. This is a common misconception because when your home teams wins, you kick yourself for betting against them, and if they lose, then you feel guilty for profiting off of their loss. Our sports betting strategy is to just simply stay away from home team betting.
